Renegade Racing Becomes Infectious

Remember the name Adam Arndt because his story is one that anyone can achieve and make happen with the right motivation. Earlier this year Arndt took a road trip with his buddy Brian Mitchell to the NMRA season opener in Bradenton. It was a man-venture that he wouldn’t soon forget as he had so much fun he decided on the way home to turn his gorgeous copper-hued Mustang GT into a Renegade brawler. The transformation to heads-up racer took merely three months to complete as he made his first NMRA competition runs this past weekend at Milan Dragway. As Arndt puts it, he only needed to get three items to make the build happen. His car is a mix of parts and pieces from several different Renegade players, including his buddy and three-time champion, Brian Mitchell. The 309ci engine gets boost from a Vortech YSi-trim supercharger. The rest of the 8.2-deck small-block Ford engine consists of custom pistons, Mitchell-designed .550-lift camshaft, and a pair of ported Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads that used sit on top of Chris Berry’s Renegade racer. The weekend began in the high 10s but with some tuning he was able to run into the 9.30s in testing. But don’t expect him to stay in the low 9s too long; the car has the capabilities of going deep into the 8s. Keep your eyes on Race Pages Magazine for a feature on this new Renegade racer.
