Andrew DeMarco—First over 200 mph on 275 Drag Radial Tires

Major barriers are only broken once and for Super Street Outlaw racer Andrew DeMarco he will always remember the time he eclipsed the 200 mph barrier on a set of 275/60-15 drag radials. He did the deed at New England Dragway during testing. That’s a feat that has not been accomplished despite the popularity of the drag radial. To set the record straight, he accomplished the task on a pair of Mickey Thompson Pro Radial tires. The rest of the combination is the same as it is for NMRA action with a Precision 98mm turbocharger, Pro Line 414ci engine, Edelbrock SC1 cylinder heads, and a passionate and dedicated driver behind the wheel. The best time on 28×10.5-inch slicks is a stellar 7.08 at 201 mph. The highest speed DeMarco ran on the radials was 201 mph but we are most certain the car will go even higher once he gets the chassis and tune-up dialed in for the new meats. He is testing the tires for some big money shootouts and the looming rule changes in NMRA action.
