Joe Charles loves good competition and while he and Justin Burcham race hard on track they also have fun off-track. A bet was made at Milan Dragway two months ago that if Burcham won the race then Charles would change his license plate from ITLRUN to ITWONT. He lost and paid his bet at Joliet but Charles said he isn’t lying down. He came back to win the Joliet stop on tour and our email lit up with a nice message from him after Burcham’s testing yesterday. We won’t divulge the entire electronic message but we will share his time slip from the Maryland race back in May. Charles said Burcham won’t be the only one in the 10.70s come Columbus.
“I don’t want to reveal what we’ve run in testing but it was fast and Justin should expect the tight racing to continue in Columbus,” explained Charles. One look at his time ticket and it shows identical 1/8-mile times with Charles having a slower 60-foot and 990-foot time. But Charles has found some drivetrain efficiencies lately. It will be the hunt for the first in the 10.70s come Columbus and hopefully another friendly wager is placed between these two fierce racers.
