The world’s biggest drag race, the Mac Tools US Nationals, is going down next week at the Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis and Don Walsh Jr. is ready for the Pro Modified showdown. Walsh and the Precision Turbo team hauled their 2010 Mustang GT to the famous drag racing facility for a little pre-game testing. Walsh is hot off a NHRA Pro Modified win at Norwalk and a victory in NMCA Pro Street at Joliet, both event wins were back in July. The team also hit the ADRL Dragstock event at zMax Dragway for even more testing and tuning. Precision Turbo’s Harry Hruska controls the power while the team relies on tuning assistance from legendary Pro Modified racer Todd Tutterow.
All the hard work and testing has paid off as Walsh not only ran a career best time of 5.81 at 248 mph but the run marked the quickest pass of the year in NHRA trim. Naturally the time is unofficial due to the testing status but Walsh is primed and ready for action come next week’s drag racing festival. Walsh currently sits 4th in the point’s race and is a mere 43 points out of first place, which is held by noted Pro Mod legend Rickie Smith. The battle for the championship will be tight with four races left (including Indy) in the ten race schedule. Walsh will always be an NMRA racer and we wish him and the Precision Turbo team Good Luck in their chase for a drag racing championship in the NHRA professional ranks.
