The fourth stop on the NMRA Keystone Automotive Ford Nationals annual tour is in Milan, Michigan - near the heart of the automotive industry and just minutes away from the home of the Blue Oval in Dearborn. The Milan event is a bit different from the rest of the stops on the NMRA schedule in that it's a two-day event rather than three or four, packing all of the typical NMRA action into Friday and Saturday. The fast-paced action means that the competitors are under the gun from the minute they arrive at the racetrack, as two qualifying sessions are held on Friday, with the second one under the lights, and the third session Saturday morning. From there, the event heads right into the elimination sessions Saturday afternoon and night, making each qualifying hit on Friday that much more important for the racers to gain a leg up on their competition. Last year at the Milan event, the ProCharger Super Street outlaw class was billed as the top dog, with John Urist taking the win over the hard-fought challenge of John Kolivas and his mean machine. This event also marked the turning point of the season for Edelbrock Hot Street 2011 champion Robbie Blankenship, who was able to take his win in Michigan over Charlie Booze, Jr. and move himself to be in just the right place to take home the season title at the end of the year. The action in Michigan will be fast, it will definitely be furious, and at the end, it will be the swing point for the season and those racers battling for points. Who will take advantage of Milan's world-famous racing surface? Milan Dragway is home to many different race events throughout the season, and their racing surface has been home to testing for one of the most important vehicles to come along in years - the Ford Mustang Cobra Jet. Ford has spent countless hours testing the CJ on the Milan 1320 and if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for us!

I want to race!
One of the great classes that the NMRA offers, the TREMEC True Street class, has been a hit in Michigan each time the NMRA has come to town. The class is designed for racers and enthusiasts alike, and each NMRA race where True Street is offered has seen many racers get their start in the class after bringing their car out to see what drag racing is all about. The True Street class features a 30-mile cruise, then three back-to-back-to-back passes after a short cooldown period - which is a good test of man and machine! The NMRA presents awards to the racers closest to each second increment, along with the overall quickest car and the runner-up, after their 30-mile cruise and three dragstrip passes are complete.

In addition, entry-level racers fit into the Open Comp, Modular Muscle, and Super Stang classes, so take a look at the class rules and make your plans to come out and race with the best Ford racers in the country. For rules information visit:, pick a class, make sure your car fits the rules and you have the proper safety gear, and come race with the NMRA!
