Bradenton, Florida – Event Preview

The NMRA blasts into the 2013 season with guns blazing, starting the year off right at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida, over the weekend of March 7-10, 2013. As the traditional jumping-off point for the NMRA season, Bradenton always brings record-setting weather and a great racing surface to the NMRA competitors.

The NMRA Keystone Automotive Ford Nationals Series has a little bit of everything for the racing fan – from the hardcore AFCO Street Outlaw class that features turbo- and supercharged door-slammers that are capable of burning up the quarter-mile, to the heavy hitters of the Edelbrock Renegade class shooting for glory with their state-of-the-art small-block Ford engines. Fans and racers alike wait all winter for this event to take place, so make sure you’ve got your seat in the stands to be a witness to it all!

Bradenton Motorsports Park has one of the best racing surfaces in the country – there’s a reason that many of the NHRA’s heavy hitters test here each spring. You can have the opportunity to show off your skills in the driver’s seat on the track in one of the NMRA’s various classes designed to satisfy the entry-level racer. The TREMEC True Street class has always been a racer favorite, with awards given out to the racers closest to each second increment, along with the overall quickest car and the runner-up, after their 30-mile cruise and three dragstrip passes are complete. In addition, entry-level racers fit into the Open Comp, Modular Muscle, and Super Stang classes, so take a look at the class rules and make your plans to come out and race with the best Ford racers in the country. True Street is the perfect class for any beginner because reaction time doesn't matter. Join other True Street racers, with passengers, and the crew from Muscle Mustangs on a 30-mile NMRA-escorted cruise to prove the street worthiness of all cars in competition. Next hit the track for 3 back-to-back passes and then watch as NMRA presents cash and awards to the overall fastest, runner-up and to each racer with the closest average to 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 seconds!

Muscle Mustangs Spring Break Shootout action will get Sunday cranking as the fastest 16 racers from Saturday's True Street competition compete heads-up for even more cash, prizes…and magazine coverage! The fastest True Street cars in the U.S. will all be assembled in one place and setting their combinations "on kill" for Spring Break glory. 2013 will also feature a special TREMEC Stick Shift Shootout for manual transmission racers where the 8 fastest stick cars will each get a custom plaque and the 2 fastest racers will compete heads-up, best 2 out of 3, winner takes all for a TREMEC Magnum XL 6-speed transmission system valued over $3,500!
