I'm going down to atco for my first mnra race in factory stock and was wondering how you guy's are making something for the fuel check? I was thinking of a ball valve at the shrader valve. looking for ideas to do it correctly and safe.
thanks

funny you should ask this question denny. i went to Bradenton and Reynolds and used a fuel test gaugethat hooked to the schrader valve and had a pressure relief button with a hos on it. this proved to be a pain in the a$$. i wish i could send you a pic of what i recently did because it is real trick but i dont have one. i'll just have to try to describe it. i aquired a 1/4" Swagelok ( pronounced swedgelock) valve and various fittings. i had a local business make me a 2 foot #4 braided hose and a fitting with 1/16 NPT on one end and a #4 male on the other. they had to silver solder this together. the hose cost me about $12 and the fitting about $2. i removed the schrader valve and installed my fitting in the fuel rail. i then connected the braided hose and ran it to the passenger inner fender where i connected to a #4 male to 1/8 NPT fitting. from there i connected to a brass 90 that connected to my Swagelok fitting. i ran 1/4" steel brake line from there to the valve. then brake line again from the valve to another Swagelok fitting that connected to a brass "T". the "T" will be used later to connect a gauge. out of the "T" is another Swagelok fitting that is capped. i know this is probably confusing and may seem expensive but the only things i bought were the hose, a couple of fittings and the brake line. i have about a total of $25 invested. if this just blows your mind you can buy a 1/16 NPT to #4 male fitting from Holcomb Motorsports for i think about $10 or so. run braided line to the fender and i saw in a Summit book a shut-off valve made by Earl's for $30. you will have to use a #4 to 3/8 NPT fitting to connect to the valve. from there you can either cap it with a #6 cap or run it somwhere else. remember in the rule book (NHRA) it says you must have a valve and some way to cap it. look in the Summit book at page 146 and you'll see it. if you are at Bowling Green for the finals look me up. i'll be driving the slow blue coupe. i hope this helps and doesnt confuse you. if you have any questions e-mail me at ponie1992@aol.com. anyway... good luck.

I bought a very simple fuel check valve from BG Fuel Systems.
It's a -8 AN fitting. Male on one end, female on the other. It is drilled and tapped to accept a brake bleeder(the bleeder fitting comes with it, already installed). I just installed it between my regulator and one of the lines coming off my fuel rail. Simple and inexpensive, and it is easy to control the fuel flow without making a mess and risking a fire.
