I'm putting together a Dart block/Twisted Wedge headed twin turbo 331. What head gaskets would you recommend? Thanks.

Let's see I think the Pt 8548 Felpro may in order here. They should hold it if you torque them down.

I've been getting very good service out of the ROL gaskets I've been using on the blue car.

Thanks. BK - got a good look at your car while it was at PA. I had Vern weld my rollbar in. Definitely one of the sharper pieces around!

Jeff, do you have any issues with the copper ones leaking? I had a set of .91 SCE coppers but got freaked when I started hearing horror stories about those things leaking. Chuck Simons and Andy Law used them and always had to drain their blocks when trailering because of it. Thanks for the info!

i run the clark copper's with no bad side effects. i had a problem with sce too as they were to hard and i couldn't compress them the clark's are much softer.

if you use copper you need to remove the radiator cap anytime the motor is cooling down, if you have pressure in the system as the motor cools, the gasket will let water past it, and cause the 'leaking' you are describing
unfortunately I know from experience

what do you reccomend to seal leaky head studs and leaky copper head gaskets with. I have used bars leak before. It worked for me.

I had problems in begining of year with them leaking ,I called wayne at youngs and they told me the trick,Get the thickest and softest copper you can find ,Use clarks sealant around all water holes, tourque heads to 115lbs in a 3 step process, and since then I have had no probs,If your not using a svo block you must seal up head bolts with plenty of sealant ,good luck,Jeff

Well, I'm in the same boat here. I have 0 rings on my R302 Block 349 stroker, since June of 2001, my copper head gasket leak or they seal for a while spry it and then again more leaks, I'm talking compression by the cooling system and the heads are groove too, just put about 4 weeks ago a set of the Flatout race copper head gasket with the sealent on them and bigger than sh... as soon as I spray it leaks again. So I was going to pull the engine to have the o rings taken off, but I heard that I can use a replacement felpro head gasket and torque down and that is it, does the o ring get in the way of the gasket, anyone knows about this, thanks:

this combo has always worked for me on motors seeing more than 35lbs of boost on a reg. basis...stainless o ring in the head OR block, receiver groove in head OR block, SCE coppers with a thin coat of Indain Head Gasket Sealant. The main thing is the heads must be torqued properly. I always run about 125 on the bottom bolts and about 135 on the top. THIS IS FOR A RACE MOTOR ONLY, NOT A STOCK BLOCK WITH OLD BOLTS. Another thing that never gets done is re-torqing. ALWAYS go back and re-torque after the motor has heat cycled to 200 degrees a couple of times. When re-torqing, if the nut doesn't move forward, back it up 1/4 turn and then torque. A good idea on this is to re-torque after every 10 to 20 passes. However my turbo motor made over 50 passes before it started loosing it's seal and I didn't re-torque. (Im very lazy) I hope this helps. Oh yea I have never had any kind of water leaks at all. HEAD GASKETS ARE FUSES a motor that is tuned right will be very easy to seal likewise if your stuff ain't right, you better keep your tools out!!!!
if it matters or not..i run 275 no2, studs, and the 8548pt2 gaskets. no problems after 50'ish passes! 9.95@3,500#

dont use the felpro 1011-1 ... this is the WORST head gasket you can use... i do use felpro 1022 and 1023(not sure if it work with stock style head) , 2year ago when i was using head bolt i blown a head gasket one time with 400HP of nitrous and 13:1 compression , reason why i blown the headgasket ? one head bolt pull out of the block :D , so i dont see why people use copper gasket with all the head hach ! when since that i change the bolt for head stud , i do have burn almost 7piston , and NEVER blown a head gasket! 13:1 400NItrous 8500RPM ,

I had good results this year with 9333PT-1's, but will be giving a set of Cometic's a 'shot' next year... Bennett Racing informed me of these new, to me anyhow, head gaskets that are supposed to be really trick.

Can the 1021 felpro be use with TFS Wedge heads, my block is an R 302 block, it says for 302-351 SVO blocks. Once I put the motor together it is going to end with 12.75:1 compression, so I'm going to start with a small tune up, 175 nos. Got the block back last night o rings are gone and receiving grooves too, so now head gaskets can blow before my pistons do, they are not cheap!!!! So, any advice, I'll apriaciate, thanks:
Edgar
