Ballast?

I want to cut a dumb bell bar in half. The type that have spinner nuts on each end. And be able to put weight in and take it out, The dumb bell bar is 1 inch in Diameter. Can I use this? Does this have to be welded to the floor pan? Does it need to be welded to a plate and then bolted through the floor?

I'm no expert on this, but I would say as long as its properly secured so there's no chance of it coming loose and beating the hell out of you in a crash, etc., it should pass tech okay.

Mr Fairmont,

Before adventuring into what you're planning to do, get ahold of an NHRA rulebook and look in section 16 (in the rear) and read the paragraphs on ballast. I think you'll reconsider your plans, but maybe not. However, you should really read it to verify whether you'll be ok or not.
