Im sure 10,000 rpm 360`s with the weight break will be lethal but like 1in lift cams The maintance will be a pain as well as expensive .Reliabilty and consistency as well as performance will be the overall winner . I think the windsor torque can launch as well sb , I guess we will see in March........

10,000 RPM on a 360 will be tough to be consistent. However, 9200 on a 400 is no slouch either.:D Welcome to the party, Hot Street is an AWESOME class with a bunch of top notch competitors. We can't wait for next year!

I spin my 402 between 9500-9800 with a cam around 1" and yes it's hard on parts. I check my valve lash and spring pressure damn near every pass! Just make sure to carry a extra set of springs, couple pushrods, lifter or two, and some rockers with ya :)
Nothing compares to the sound of a 400ci motor staging at 7k RPMs or going through the traps at 10k RPMs!

Chuck was going teens and 0's with the FFW rules which are a little different from NMRA. FFW allows sheet metal intake, dominator carbs, wheelie bars, etc. Where NMRA does not allow any of that stuff! Also up until 2003 the FFW stick cars didn't have to carry the 250lbs weight penalty that NMRA cars.
If you want 8's or 0's take any of the top 5 NMRA cars lighten them up, throw wheelie bars on them, take the 1.775 4150 carb and replace it with a Dominator, and then throw on a sheet metal inake on it!
HEY SHANE YOU GUYS BUILDING A NEW MOTOR? I SAW YOURS UP FOR SALE? TIM @ MUSTANG SPECIALTIES

Kenny,
other than Chuck, most of you HS guys are faster than 90% of the FFW Street Bandit field,I think just with some wheelie bars and the limiters gone off the front you guys can run 9 teens,a Street Bandit guy ran 9.24@149 with sheetmetal, wheelie bars, and the like,Boozer went 9.23@149 without any of that stuff,I think any guy with the money(root of all evil) could dominate both classes if he could afford the rebuilds between races and going back and forth. Even though they are both different I like both Hot Street and Street Bandit nothing like the sound of a small block screaming for dear life at 9000rpm's.

Think it will come to that before 03 is up ? I think its going to be a engine builders thinking game . RPM`s,cubes, strokes, bores, rod ratios, ect, ect. All we have to do is put it on the ground ,go straight and cut a 401 light;)

Tim,
I guess Shane Long is the only "Shane" on this board. The answer is an emphatic "YES!!" We couldn't continue on and be competitive with the mill we are running right now (we are about 0.05 - 0.09 off of the pace depending on the weather) and to be quite truthful, this motor doesn't have all of the "goodies" that some of our competition does. That won't be a problem with the new powerplant. ;) We are pumped about next year and have even heard some rumors of other big name racers coming over to join Hot Street in 2003. Should be awesome!
PS... Anyone interested in some sponsorship opportunities for 2003???? Call Shane Long @ 864.286.1391 (H) or 864.254.2739 (w).
