How fast can you go and "still" stop the car with stock 5.0 brakes. I know 148mph is fine.

TO use the term "Stock brakes" looseley, here is how I set my brakes up using Stock Ford Parts...

Front:
11" 5.0 Rotors 4-lug
89 Crown Vic 73 MM Steel Piston Calipers
Perfomance Friction Carbon Metallic Brake Pads
Stainless Brake Lines

ASP Manual Brake adapter
Harwood Adj Prop valve
Gutted Factory 86 Mustang Prop Valve
SVO Master Cyl

Rear:
10" Fairmont Wagon Rear Drums w/matching Backing Plates

I know there are a few drum brake cars still left that are running fast, but I am looking to upgrade the rear to an 11.65" Setup using Lincoln Mark VII setup with Stock length axles, as not to mess with the BS on wheels. This is my low buck stock brake approach. The car hauls ass and stops well, but I have no track numbers yet, but it should be low, low 10 sec trim right now.

FWIW, hope it helps.....

Thank's for the reply. I guess what I'm looking for is if anyone has gone 155-160mph on stock brakes (no parachute) and still stoped at the end. Probably a stupid question, but curious if it is possible.

i just updated mine for weight not for performance but i was going 8 teens at 168 mph a didn't need my parachute to stop with aero space light weight front brakes that are smaller than stock, and bone stock rear drum brakes and the car stopped no problem at 2900 lbs. i did use my chute but i have stopped without it many of times and had no problems, they were also manual brakes no power assist with the stock master which i still run and the stock proportioning valve. hope this helps .
