View Full Version : Intake questions...
I have a stock 302 with lightly ported stock heads, stock valves, 216/220 542/574? (2030 or 2031, whichever is not the cobra cam), 6# Paxton ball drive, and 150 shot of n20. Currently I am running Edelbrock 5.0 intake, a freind wants to switch intakes with me. He has the old Cartech with truck lower. Would this intake be ok for my mild combination because of the blower, or would kill the low end and move the sweet spot waayyy up on the tach? I shift it at only 5500-5700. Should I do it? Can I spray the box intake? Thanks for any help.

personally, i wouldnt put a box intake on any 302 with stock heads. the boost wont compensate for the losses. the HP gain would be insignificant compared to the loss. i would stick with a longrunner intake for now. especially since you shift at 5700.
When this sorry stock motor goes something mid 6 second is going in, at which point I think the box intake may work. And the cartech costs about twice as much as the Edelbrock--will the Performer 5.0 support mid sixes in a 3000# car. I guess I'm looking at the "long term" answer. I talked to my buddy and each of us agreed that if we were dissastified we would switch back. Thanks for all of your replies people. (ha ha ha)

you can put alot of boost through a Performer 5.0. with a more radical engine, i suppose it would be a big help, but you need more cubes to take advantage of it to the max.
