We're starting a new project car in Race Pages, a 2006 Mustang GT. Our plan is to build an "externally" stock looking car with stock interior that runs high 10's on drag radials.

So far we've installed a C&L intake/maf kit, Bassani cat-back exhaust, Diablo Predator, and a set of 275/40 drag radials. So far we've run a 8.60 in the 1/8 mile, or around a 13.30 at Irwindale.

Next up is a TCI convertor and 3.73 gears.

I'm curious what you guys would like to see in terms of a magazine buildup?

I have to admit, I bought an automatic. I think the 5-speed auto will haul ass with a power adder. if it holds up, that is.

Call me a sissy..

Go ahead..

Maybe we can race the automatic '05 that I'm building for 5.0 Mustang magazine at the Route 66 Super Bowl? Hmmm ... just like old times! lol

Good luck James. And, yes that 5-speed automatic hauls the mail. We'll have a turbo on ours.

Thanks Doc, I doubt it will be running 10's by then. Give us a little more information about the 5.0 project.

Whats the goal? Stock short-block?

Are you upgrading the trans or going to stay with the stock trans and just change the converter?

Hi James and Doc,

Maybe we can get something going on a match race at Route 66. Just bought an 06 myself, 5 speed though.

Should have a power adder in the next hundered miles or so. (N20, Paxton, ProCharger, Turbo, I cannot decide ????)

Good luck with both of your ventures with the new stangs.

no track time yet. so far maxing the maf and killing the spark on the plugs it made 430 to the tires. i just installed the maf extender and colder plugs with a .030 gap but have not put it back on the dyno. if we are not to busy this week i may just strap it back down and retune it i think it should go 460-470 not to bad for a auto. i will email you some pics i cant seem to upload them.

The car is owned by Kenny Moss, and he purchased it from '06 R/S racer, Bruce Hemminger. We are planning a Livernois short block and ported heads, a Hellion/Bassani turbo system, and lots of lucky charms to keep the transmission together. Actually, Tom and Harvey at Performance Automatic are working on some upgrades for the trans. We are putting AJE front suspension and Steed rear suspension on the car with their trick little 3-link setup.

I'll shake the rust off of Kenny and get him in the show at Route 66!

Turbo for yours, James?

Doc,

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go the blower route. Probably going to push the short-block until it expires.

We've got a full BMR suspension system that's going to go under her in the next month with Alston Varishock rear shocks.

James,

Bring that pile down to the Rt66 race and I'll show the tail lights of my externally stock looking(right down to the 10-holes) soon to be 10-sec street driven 89 hatch complete w/porno red interior.

ps. I'd have posted a photo of it at the track, but I keep getting told my file is INVALID when I try to upload it. It's a .jpeg file, and it's no bigger than the ones posted above. What's up with that?

There is nothing like porno-red interior!!

To post a photo, use photobucket.com to upload a photo - then you just provide a link to it using the little "photo" link when you go to post on our board. It's pretty easy..

even YOU can figure it out..

Can I bring this one to race your hatch with porno red interior?

Haven't you sold that thing yet?
Sh!t, you're going on 3 weeks with one car.
Aren't you getting "the itch"?

Assembly is going very slowly, but I guess when you build at least half yourself.... doc.. that tends to happen.. It doesn't help that I can't weld.

I have, however, become fairly talented with the plasma cutter. What a nice invention.

A True Street S-197 Elimination Race at the NMRA World Finals? Make it happen and I'll haul my arse from the Mid Pac!
Car got to be a street car, driven to the strip, go for a drive through town, can change to slicks, any power adders, round Robin elimination if four cars, straight ladder if more than that.
Be cool to show exactly what the three valve can do.

James,

Your beautiful new Mustang will have that number 6715 in the glass forever because it sure looks like shoe polish from here. Don't let them do that!

Your projects sounds fun. Good luck.
