Should Drag Radial be expanded to a full season of 8 races next year?

I for one, think that part of the reason their isnt a bigger turn out at every race is because their is NOT full schedule. I really do feel, that if the NMRA were to put in place a full season of Drag Radial races, we would have a much better turnout. We have a very good turn out now (22 cars at Maple Grove) even more exspected at ATCO.

If the NMRA were to impose a full race season for Drag Radial a lot of the cars that are currently racing other organizations would start to think. I am myself read these boards daily and have read that if the NMRA would go to a full schedule many of the cars/drivers would be converted to NMRA legal cars. We would have some REALLY interesting races than, and a very competetive class.

With the cost of racing..IE: performance going up, I think it would be a great idea to have a class that has a bigger field of Drivers/Cars.

This is just MY thoughts, so please No one come on here and tear me apart, but rather voice your ideas to help maybe get this more than just talk.

ALSO, I know racers, without naming names that have been in the Drag Radial world since the beginning have pushed for this, but I am trying to just help out the cause.

If we get moved to a full schedule we should also be moved to PRO contingencies. This class is WAY beyond a sportsman class.

I SAY 6 RACES IT HARD TO GET OFF WORK TO TRAVEL BUT IF ITS 8 RACES ILL BE THERE. THEY DO MAKE AIR PLANES.

SHOWTIME: I agree with 6 out of 8, but for us to get PRO contingencies you know the NMRA wont do it unless they go full schedule. Thats the ONLY reason I said 8.

YES BUT ONLY IF THE PURSE AND CONTINGENCY MONIES WERE INCREASED. iF NOT ADDING 1 MORE RACE WOULDN'T HURT....

WE'VE DEFINATELY HAVE PROVED OURSHELVES AS BEING A PROFESSIONAL STLYE RACING CLASS. NOT TO MENTION THE AMOUNT OF CARS THAT R TURNING OUT AT EACH EVENT, AND WE'RE STILL GROWING. THE DRAG RADIAL CLASS IS THE MOST TALKED ABOUT CLASS AND WATCHED THAN MOST OTHERS. WE'RE ALSO THE FASTEST GROWING CLASS TOO. EVERY RACE WE' HAVE NEW NAMES AND RACERS BECOMING TOP CONTENDERS RIGHT AWAY. HEY UP UNTIL MG WHO IN THE DR CLASS NEW OF A J. BRYNES FOMER REAL STREET RACER... I WAS ON THE STANGCRAZY SITE AND THE TALK WAS A FEW REAL STREET RACER WERE CROSSING OVER TO DRAG RADIAL..

SO SAME PURSE SAME CONTINGENCY 6 RACES
HIGHER PURSE MORE CONTINGENCY 8 RACES
WE'VE MET THE GOALS THAT THE NMRA HAS REQUIRED (HIGH CAR COUNT)
PLUS WE'VE GIVEN YOU XCITEMENT, GROWTH, AND ONE OF THE FANS FAVORITES, NOT TO MENTION THE INVOLVEMENT OF THE MAJOR COMPANIES.

Scott - we are always listening. Drag Radial has been one of our strongest classes this year. Especially in the events in the Northeast. Although it seems that many in the class do not agree at times, we are committed to the Drag Radial class and respect what these racers have been able to accomplish. As well, the fans are defintely behind the class. The development of the class is something I think we can all be proud of.

I'm not on here on a daily basis, but I check in occasionally. Feel free to e-mail myself or Charlie Harmon about any of your suggestions or concerns.

Thanks,
James

I am please to read a direct response. With that said, I would love to give you a zillion suggestions, but that might be better stated by a few racers that have been with Drag Radial since it's inseption.
These boards are veiwed daily by many of the top racers in the country in all classes. Drag Radial has fast become a serious played in fan spectating and racing.

1) The fan support has jumped , Big Time!!
2) The class racer count had more than doubled.
3) The records have fallen, and will fall again at ATCO.
4) The class sportsmanship is unbelievable.
5) The class is a mature class, maybe not in years, but definitely in racer knowledge, and the racers that have paid their dues, and been in the sport for a long time.
6) The cars are simply put * On the edge* and are some what street related vehicles.
7) And possibly the most important, The class is closely monitored by teh racers themselves, and teh opinions are voiced, and discussed. It has for some time almost been a racers run/counceled class.

With that sadi I'd like to thank you for your time, and say to all the racers...now is the time to voice opinions suggestions and rules changes to help make this a more competetive class. Everyone wants to win, but the RACING is what we are all in it for!!! We love to compete!!!

I agree with the vote that we get a full shedule as long as we get pro-contingencies.

Other wise add a race

I think we are at the point where we can be compared to Outlaw and Renegade. I can honestly say that most of the cars can up the size of the power adder maybe do a little work to the heads throw on a set of slicks and be right in the Outlaw field. Im not talking 7.80s but probably mid to low 8s

thanks

i would like for us to run a full schedule... we would definately need pro-contingencies.. this would also attract more racers.. we spend pretty close to as much as an average outlaw car.. if we ran 8 events and had the option to drop our worst race, this would give the racers who either finished poorly at an event or could not make it a chance in the final point standings.. it would also be less chance of a racer running away with a championship.. but on the other hand it would give him/ her a few more races to win!! but in order to run a full schedule there should be some changes in the rules as far as blower / turbo sizes. so the blower cars dont have to destroy a blower at every event in order to competetive.. peterc dr10047

I am not a d/r racer but i do like watching you guys run when i can.I think you should have a full sechule. Was just wondering where you get 8 races?
they had 8 last year only 7 was sechuled this year.then they cancelled the mich.race.So that leaves us with only 6 races.Maybe we all can get a full sechule next year.:D

Give them 8!!! They deserve it!!

the one and only thing I don't like about DR class is the launch. I know you guys obviously have traction issues, but it just reminds me too much of bracket cars using delay boxes.....other than that, you guys rock!!

NMRA,

Look you know your are the number one in establishing this class.
So go full blown and pay them a good purse. It makes it worth while and gets people interested. Now on the other hand what are you going do about new racers. The DR class pretty much is already out of reach for the regular guy; So lets form a DOT tire class (limit tire size to 28 by 12.50) and lets them run for the King of the Hill. Cars must drive through the gate make three back to back passes. Eliminations start in a hour. Each car will be closely matched. In other words not like COMP Eliminator; some thing like this:

All cars run generally the same ET window so they should be within thousands of each other. You qualify like you would C/E only your indexed or group together; this would be very interesting no delay boxes and no throttle stops. A class for Stick cars (ST/S) and one for automatics (ST/A); Its just something to think about. Most people here complain and never come a suggestion or solution. Its a just thought for all to have fun.

Anyway PAY them what they are worth to you, no racers means NO NMRA, you have heard it all by my estimation; so can this class be for the racers this time. Thanks for allowing me a place to post my views. Now " Let's Race"........
