I just bought a new to me mustang. The car ran 10.30 @ 133. I have always had 12 sec mustangs. Now how do I know what clothes to buy. How may layer drivers suits and gloves and snakers ect ect ect. How do I know what will protect me from a fire.

Thanks Jason

If I am not mistaken a single layer jacket is good to 9.99 then pants and kneck collar and gloves. You can never be too safe.

Per NHRA regs (which are pretty much the universal standard - the NMRA uses them for safety items), at 11.99 to 10-flat, you need a jacket with a SFI 3.2A/1 rating. For 9.99 to 7.50, or any vehicle trapping at 135 or faster, that jumps up to 3.2A/5 (jacket and pants), gloves meeting SFI spec 3.3/1. Power-adder cars running faster than 9.99 and without an OEM or steel firewall also require 3.2A/15 jackets and pants, and gloves and shoes meeting spec 3.3/5. You'll also need a neck collar once you go quicker than 9.99 or faster than 135 mph.

Of course, it's never a bad idea to exceed the minimum requirements when it comes to safety equipment...
