i am planning on rebuilding my c4 i would like to know the best place to get some books ect. on doing this and any other info on this venture

Your local (better) parts stores should have the books or at least be able to order them. If you've never done one before, you might want to get a Haynes or Chilton's, but there are other dedicated overhaul books out there. Or the more in depth versions like Chilton's offers, but those can get very expensive for even the pro's who need them regularly.
You might check into www.performanceautomatic.com for some info.
As well as www.artcarr.com who actually offers books too. :)

Better yet, just lay the parts out just like they came out, and then go by the specs. If youve never done one, thats the way to go. Believe me, when they start talking about #1 and #2 thrust washer, your gonna say " what the f@#k!
