i got a surging problem and i know the iac is working and i have no vaccum leaks. the odd thing is when i went to set my timing i noticed when i pulled out the base timing module with the car running the timing did not change at all and after awhile i also noticed with the module back in my timing was jumping around a bit anyone have any possible answers o ya somtimes it seems when i go to start the car it acts like its firing a cylender out of wak :confused:

With the timing spout in, the ECU is constantly making adjustments to the timing to compensate for something so the engine runs as best it could.
The timing should be steady when you pull out the spout because essentially you have disconnected the "circuit" that makes the timing adjustment or something like that.
What type of MAF sensor are you running? Do you have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? What is your fuel pressure at? How clean is your air cleaner (what type are you running?)? the MAF sensor wires may be dirty....
Alot of people experience what you do....maybe it is so common that doing a search for "surging" may result in posts....unless the old threads got erased.

if you want to see if the ecm is advancing timing correctly you can run koer test and ck timing after codes have displayed. ecm will add 20 deg to whatever your base timing is set at. and kanepsycho is correct about the spout connector. when it's disconnected the timing should stay constant regardless of rpms.

thanks for the ideas tho it seem it was a fuel pump going bad
