The car: 2000 Focus ZX3, 111,000 miles on the clock

Project Slocus has made over 100 quarter-mile passes (while painfully stock), 70 dyno pulls, 50 autocross runs, and logged over 1500 miles on road courses throughout California, all-the-while maintaining it’s daily-driver status – no easy task with a bare metal interior and rollcage in the bumper-to-bumper 120-mile roundtrip commute to work.
Slowly, but surely we’ve been working on this corner-carver’s ability to get-up-and-go in a straight line, the area in which the Focus could use some help. As it sits, the 16-valve DOHC Zetec motor has an NX wet kit, Focus Sport intake, race header, flexpipe, and mild cams, Esslinger cam gears, Ford racing under-drive pulley, Cosworth Racing exhaust, Nology HotWires, BDL fuel rail, a relocated Optima battery, and has been tuned by Focus Sport with an SCT Xcalibrator2. The car sits on Intrax springs for the SVT Focus with KYB AGX adjustable dampers, with SVT Focus wheels.
We have a Fidanza Stage 4.3 clutch and aluminum flywheel waiting for the car, which will be needed once we install the Roush turbo kit and a set of BFG drag radials, along with an aftermarket radiator goes on the car. With the standard Roush kit, the car should make in the neighborhood of 200/200 at the wheels, and with a 50 shot on top of that, high 12s should be within reach. Then, hopefully, a built motor...
