View Full Version : Convos Pros on 86 GT?

I have 15x8.5s on the rear of my 86 GT. They have the 5" b/s and 275x50x15s M/T Drag Radials on them. They seem to be sticking too far out of the wheel opening. They look "great" and really want to keep them on the car. Maybe the off-set is wrong? I am also thinking that I might have to narrow the rear maybe 2 or 3 inches on each side. that's going to cost $$$$. I think I could pull the rear out and have it narrowed. man this really "SUCKS" Can anyone help? It never seems to end!

I have the same wheel on my 85 with 28x11.50 Hoosier qtp's and they stick out further than i want but the only "production" wheel with a better b/s is the weld 15x8 w/ 5.5 b/s. Tucks them under the fender lip.

Ihad to beat the inners and roll the outer lip almost flat but mine just rub a little, hope this helps...............Andy

Man those Convo Pros look Sweet!!! Have any pics from the rear bumper foward? To get a better view of the tire off set. Thanks!!

I had my rear narrowed 1" per side, here are a few pics.

how much did it cost to narrow the rear? I've been considering narrowin my 9" rear 2" on each side.

I paid $125. to have the rear narrowed and tubes straightened and welded to the center.

So you had the rear out of the car,and cut down to lenght,then ordered new correct length axles? Is correct?

Cause I currently have the 33-spline axles w/c-clip eliminators on mine.

Yes, I had the rear narrowed and then bought the correct axles.

You may check with your axle manufacturer, they may be able to shorten and respline your axles.
