Does anyone out there know if the fuelie heads from an 88 460 will work on an early block?? I was thinking they might flow pretty good on the exhaust side with the raised ports; or is it just a waste of thought? Also, what can you do for an intake?

The late model heads are not worth investing in. Get a set of DOVE-C or earlier, 77cc chamber and with the CJ valves and exhaust side port work they will support 800hp with the right combo. You can learn more at www.460ford.com, great site with tons of info if you use the search tool. Chris

Thanks for the advise. I already have 2 sets of the early heads, one being '72 police heads D2OE-AB which are supposed to be the best "production" head made by Ford. Thanks again, Doug

Well....it just depends. When I bolted on a set of DOVE's in place of the DOOE-R's the car picked up a little over a second in the quarter. The CJ heads will work in larger cube engines with proper port work but flow numbers are not good on the smaller engines. (429-460)
