Hey I was just needing some information about building a 302 for my 68 mustang. I want close to 250-300 hp but I dont know where to start. I need information about what year block and heads, or what kind of pistons to use. I dont want to get heads with big combustion chambers and then end up with low compression and have a weak motor. Just wondering if anyone had any recipes for good running dependable 302's not for racing but just for fun.

That sound like a good deal but im in TN and the motor is in PA plus i just wanted to build one myself. I just dont know where to start with all the different chamber sizes on all the different year model heads and what block and cam to go with as far as solid, hydro, or roller. If anyone can let me know what the best components are to use to build a good 302 please let me know.

Just get a stock late model 302 and put some TFS TW heads and a TFS street heat intake with all the supporting fuel system components. It will make 250 at the rear wheels no problem. Stock cam and it will idle and drive like a dream.

I agree with Chris, just get a stock roller block 87-92 with forged pistons not those hyper-therapeutic! slap some tfs t/w heads & intake(if carbed go with an edelbrock performer rpm with a 650 d.p maybe a tfs stage 1 cam & you'll end up with over 250@ the wheels & depending on weight it should run 12's!

Early model car, right? EFI isn't an option.

Canfield 170cc 18* heads on a late model 302. This way a hyd roller can be used. Use a RPM Air gap and a 650 carb. 1 5/8 L/T with 2.5"m exhaust. I can do a camshaft to do whatever it is you are needing. Plus the heads will COME with the springs you need. A very driveable, very fast car is what you'll have.

Good Luck.
