I shoe horned a 4.6 SOHC in a 1989 LX. although the some wiring is not compatible to the fox all is running BUT not as I expected. I,ve worked on fords for years, My Son/I run a SB 351W (408 stroker) I dont have a problem w/mech. It's the Damn computers. The idle in the 4.6 is rough,(changed all sensors ect I get what sounds like a vacuum leak but when I chk. vac I get 18/23 inches. when I shut down I get a whistle and a "suction sound" inside valve cover/intake drivers side front. does this sound like someone may have had this I welcome all help.

I used computer from 98GT with its own harness. it is all self contained. my major problem was cross matching to fox wiring. the whistle/vacuum sound I was getting I had the pvc vacuum in the wrong ports for positive crankcase ventilation. The harness has the fuses you need , the fuel pump relay, computer diode/power source. (A/C relay in same power dist. but not used due to no room in engine well for A/C. as of now the car is a "torque Monster" as my son says.we run high 13s with stock gears, no power adders, My next project is the 4.6 DOHC Cobra motor and twin-turbo it, this one I built for my daughter to get groceries with. Hope this ansewered any questions

You should have plenty of room for the a/c. I put a DOHC in a '90 Fox, and had no problem making the a/c fit. I did have to put spacers under the sway bar to clear the compressor, but was not a big deal.

I recomend that you have the car dynoed and data logged. This should show whats up. It may need a custom tune to run properly. Karl Sr.
Can you post some pictures of the swap?
