Just wondering how many fellow racers also go out and do any type of shooting be it hunting, or just target practice to keep the skill's sharp, and what do you carry for a conceal carry?
Haven't been hunting since I left Georgia, but I still target shoot as much as I can. I have entered a few target shooting competitions with my father in South Carolina with his shooting club. Placed pretty well. I am better at shooting than I am at racing.
I also carry, a Glock 45. There is too much going on in the world to walk around empty handed. Precaution not paranoia.

Nothing wrong with paranoia, paranoid people live longer for some reason.
I get to the range almost everyday, and learn something new everyday.
I carry a 1911 .45 with two backup magazines at all times, or within easy reach.
Is that the range on base for work or after work?
Some people look at people that carry as paranoid. I look at it this way, If everyone carried there would be less crime in this world.

I enjoy shooting skeet. I use a Winchester, model 12 with a Cutts compensator. I also use a Remington Sweet sixteen side by side, double trigger. Nothing like taking out two at a time with an old pumper. :D
I do have the opinion, a real shotgun is made with wood stocks. I don't care for plastic guns, but again It is JMO. I also use a Walther PPKS.

I shoot sporting clays, duck hunt, rifle hunt, and own and shoot several side arms. Concealed carry not possible in WI unless you are a law enforcement officer.

It must be a military thing, but i am a 1911 guy all the way too. shot for the combat pistol team a while back, but now hunt deer, duck, upland game when i can. i don't get to the range as often as i would like, but i try my best. CCW is just a phone call away in florida, which as luck would have it is good in lots of states, including MS where i live now

Clay shooting is an excellent exercise I have to keep doing it to stay sharp, that is talent you have to keep sharp.
Hank,
I use the range on base on the weekend's because it is 10 dollars all day long, and I use a public range during the week. I kick myself now for not doing MSG duty, would have been a great way to get hooked up on DSS(Diplomatic Security Service not the engine builder :D) duty.
MPK,
old slabslide is just fool proof, but the integrated safety's make sure if you have to pull the trigger you have made a conscious decision to employ it.
Carl,
I had a SSGT that was our SNCOIC he was a former Embassy Gaurd as a LCPL and he also did another tour as a SGT/SSGT. He was always pushing that on us saying it was the best duty he ever did. It seemed great, but I was always interested in the mechanics of things and stayed a jet mech. It worked out the way I wanted it to in the end for me. I don't have any regrets.
If I stayed in longer I would have tryed to do DI Duty. That always looked fun to me. Did you have a good experience doing that?

Man being a Drill Instructor was one of the best duties I ever had. When i was a "Hat"(Drill Instructor) it was 2 years and I extended for a year when I was down there, received a Navy Commendation for it.
Me during the highlight of my career:

Long time ago, few more ribbons and medal's now, and 15 pounds heavier. :D
That is awesome. Were you at Pendleton or PI? I think that duty would have been fun as hell.
Great picture too!

I carry a S&W 990L .40 CAL. I also have a Glock 33 in a .357 sig . Nice, small, and easy to conceal. I try to shoot on the weekends. A friend has a armalite .50 BMG . By far the most fun rifle to shoot.

I need to get off my rear and apply for my carry permit. Until three years ago in Colorado you were at the mercy of your county sherrif, the sherrif in my county did not think anybody but law enforcement should carry and it was real hard to get a permit. Now we have a state law that says they must issue unless they can prove a reason why you shouldn't have a permit.
I already have a H&K USP 45 to carry, I just need to apply for the permit.

I had a USP .40 that was a sweet pistol. You do need some pretty good size hands for a USP type pistol.

I have large hands, any grip less than a double stack feels akward in my hand. The first time I held a double stack in my hand it felt like it had been made just for me. I bought it on the spot. It is a MegaStar stainless 45, I love shooting it but it is pretty heavy for carry. It is my car gun.
The USP is nice and light and just right for carry on a large body.
