View Full Version : 1st time I ran my car with the Jug

I went to Steele Alabama the other day to run my car. Its taken over 3 years to build but it has finally came together and I got to run it.

The engine is a 60 over 351 with out of the box victor jr heads and intake, Prosystems 1000cfm carb, solid roller, edelbrock super victor fogger (25/26s=200hp) with 950psi bottle pressure and 28 degrees of timing, C4, 355 gear, stock style suspension, 28X10.5, ect, ect.

The temp was around 95 and track temps was like 138-140. I made a few motor hits just to be sure everything was working correctly and I had to up the fuel jets in the carb because it was a bit on the lean side.

Once I got that straighten out I made 1 nitrous hit. I left on the motor and activated the nitrous right away and went 1.392 60', 6.29@112 1/8, and 9.82@139. I was pretty pleased with the results since this being a new car and all. I figure with some more tuning, cooler air, and leave on the juice, I'd say that I have a 5.90 1/8 and 9.50 1/4 in it.

I only got to make one pass on N2O because the engine was lean so I had to make adjustments and test to correct the problem before I sprayed it.

What are you guys thoughts on my combo? Good or bad or average?

what was your total timing leaving on the bottle ?

what total timing you run on motor alone and what size jets you're running??how much compression you think you have? ??i have vic jrs also my heads for 320-230 at .700 lift,,i run a just a vic jr intake about 14:1 i run a 1050 carb and 92's jets all around,i run 6.20s on motor at 109 i run a nos cross single stage plate,the 12th of last month i ran a 5.73 at 122 on a 275 hit i leave on motor and soon i feel the car hit i grab the juice,,i run a powerglide with a 5200 big block stall with 4.10 gears,,race ready car weights 2875..i run my timing on 36 on motor and i pull 10 out on juice anyway they say run vic jrs 34-36 degree on motor

I have only ran my car this one time with 28 degrees of total timing, I have the distributer locked out. The engine is only a 11to1 compression engine with out of the box heads and intake. The engine dont make as much torque as alot of your combos due to the stock stroke. I know that the 355 gear is hurting me some, I plan on going to a 410 or 430 in the future. The converter will only go up to 4300 on the transbrake. I also dont really know what my car weighs, I'm thinking around 2900-2950 with me in it.

Update on my car, ran a 6.17 @111 with a 1.36 60' the other night with no changes. I'm going to try to wire the nitrous up to the transbrake before I go again. I'm leaving on motor and then spraying it, so I might have another tenth in it with no changes.
