Going into this weekend’s 22nd Annual Toyo Tires NMRA Ford Motorsport Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, PA, Sam Vincent is looking to three-peat and improve his shot at taking the SSO crown. But there are plenty of guys ready to end his hot streak; Guys like John "Fireball" Urist, runner-up at Silver Dollar and current trap speed king with an unofficial record of 196 MPH, last year's champ Manny Buginga, who narrowly avoided disaster at the Bradenton season opener against Vincent in the final round when his car spun at mid-track, and Don "Burndown" Burton, packing his own nitrous-injected Big Block that shows the potential to change everything in SSO. When the tree drops in Maple Grove, it's anybody's race, and only one thing is certain - we'll see some of the best door-slammer drag racing in the country.
Being the oldest NMRA event in history, the Ford Motorsport Nationals is full of history and tradition but we also bring something new every year. This event will feature a unique All-Ford Auto Show & Shine with completely different classes than that of other NMRA events. This year also marks a first for the Motorsport Nationals – a new and exciting heads-up drag racing class and a two-day bracket shootout!
