I'm down to the last pieces of the fuel system puzzle and have one question...
I'm running a -10 line up from the pumps. I have an Aeromotive Y-block that will feed two -8 lines, one each to the back of the rails. I thought I heard something mentioned about not being able to mount the Y-block to the firewall. True?
If anybody has mounted a Y-block to feed the rails, I'd be interested in hearing where you mounted it. Thanks for any feedback.

Vinny,
Good to see you on the board.
I didn't get the rule book out but I think deep in the regs it says to not run the fuel lines within X inches of the bellhousing area. ( I think you can shield it) I do see ALOT of cars with it in the area though. Cut fuel lines would be trouble.
I am sure you will double check the rule.
Good luck.

vinny, alot of guys mount them in the inner wheel well, and bring the lines thru the hole in the fender. also, its better to feed the rails from the front, not the rear. hope this helps

Thanks Chris. I was actually thinking about that today, just bringing them up thru the fenderwell. Curious about that comment on bringing the fuel in from the front also. Is that just to keep the fuel moving during acceleration? Oh well, I thought I was close to being done with the fuel system. LOL!
Thanks guys....and Larry buddy, I've been hanging around here since my O/C days back in '02 but thanks for the welcome! :D

to be honest, i dont know why they say to run it from the front of the rail. i myself, am new to the whole fuel injection setup. but most of the cars i have seen are fed to the front.

Allow me to quote from the Book of St. Wally, Section 16, Verse 1:5 -
"Fuel distribution blocks and fuel pressure gauge isolators must be located at least 6 inches forward of the flywheel/bellhousing area. Steel braided line; may be mounted on firewall." (punctuation as in original text)

Thanks so much! I guess I'll tackle this and maybe have some pics up of the final install. Much appreciated.

I am working on a 347 w/ billet fuel rails and Trac Heat intake. On mine, I mounted the y-block to the firewal. Then ran the -8an supply lines to the rear of the fuel rails. Then ran the front of the passenger fuel rail to the regulator. On the driver's side fuel rail ,it was alittle differant. Since the front of fuel rail had clearance issues with the distributor. Had to clearance the front on the fuel rail to clear the distributor. But I still couldn't install a fitting cause of the clearance issue. So my only choice was to removed the plug on the bottom side of the rail. I installed a fitting, and attached the hose and ran to the regulator. I also tried the Behind Bars fuel rails, but still had clearance issues. I didn't want to file down the 45 degree end (on the weld bead) to clear the distributor. On a 351 you don't had the clearance issues cause the motor is wider. Maybe it's just the Trac Heat's front runners on the being further foward that cause this clearance problem? A small cap distributor would also work, but would need different ignition box. The instruction on Aeromotive and Mallory says to run the hline as I did. Hope this helps!

I wold have ran into the same clearance issue with the fuel rail but I knew about that going into it so I had a guy "tweak" my fuel rail for me by cutting and welding a fitting on the end at an angle.....

Done!
Well, almost. I was 2 inches short on my last piece of #8 line.
I still ended up running the feed into the back of the rails. I guess if I need to change that next year, I will. For now I just want to get the car running.
