I was wondering if there was a list for fastest real street car, any modification allowed 4.6 or 5.4 2 valve in the nation? My car is a 1996 GT 5.4 PI now. I am going for the top 3. Before I do the turbo I am shooting for high 10's on a 175 horse wet shot to prove a point to LS1 guys, and Cobra Owners. All of this is also happening at 6000 ft density altitude. When the car was a totally stock 4.6 PI 5 speed, with vortech s trim and stock pulley, I ran 12.22 @113.86 which corrects to 11.23 @ 123.06 for sea level. After the ported heads and comp 262ah cams the car went consistent 11.70's @ 120.xx with stock pulley. I ran
11.37 @ 119.6 when I put a 2.8 pulley on it and made it to 4th gear and that was it, I broke two pistons and rods and windowed the block. It coasted from around the 1000ft mark on that pass. The car now is a 5.4 home ported heads, soon to have custom grind turbo cams and a bit more head work. It will soon have my own custom turbo with somewhere around 80 mm compressor. I will also be running a glide with this combo for to start with. Basically I am shooting for 9.8XX to 9.9xx at my altitude and 9.3 to 9.4 at a better track. Also the race weight last year was 3660. This car has cold air, heat, power everything and aftermarket system with two 12 inch subs and two amps, and a 1 fahrad capacitor. I like real usable street cars that run decent. I was curious about the fastest list to see if I need to do anything else to the car when it is down for the turbo setup and automatic swap.

I remember that Ken, I kept up with your quest on Modular Depot. I was wondering if the 2 valve PI power adder times on the Depot were an accurate reflection as to the fastest Power adder cars in the nation. I want a power adder car because to me a street mustang needs all of the creature comforts, and therefore can not weigh 2800 pounds. I have a street Pinto, tubbed, tube chassis, stock sheet metal, windows and even modified fenders and hood which is now a tilt front end. I am building it with a small block Chevy to run easy bottom 9's with. I also have a 1984 mustang coupe I am building with a LS1 and turbocharger, and all creature comforts that I hope will weigh around 3000 lbs, and it should be good for mid 9's easy.

I think Chris Crown had 2V that went 8.7's or even 6's
I know we, Steen Racing, have built a 2v with a Novi 2000 that went 9.0's, but this was not a street car

Did Steen Racing have something to do with Travers car? That car is what really opened my eyes to the 2 valve potential. I would be happy to be in the top 5 in a true street car.

I just checked out Steen's site and answered my question. I will definitely be giving Steen a call and see if I can get a few tips. I really like the fact that it is a high revving 2 valve!! I also plan on running a powerglide. But the 5.4 probably won't rev that high. I could be wrong though, it might go 7000 with larger cams. Right now with a little 175 shot 8.4 compression and 20 degrees total timing with probably to cold of a plug it goes 6200 no problem. In fact it is the only street car I have driven that will get sideways from a 70 punch!! That is with drag set up suspension and z rated tires for the street setup. The nitrous setup fried the clutch that gave me no problems last season in two street tire runs.:D The car is just to prove a point to LS1 guys in the Texas Panhandle area. Last year with the stock bottem end 4.6 the closet mod car to me last year at Amarillo Dragway was a 04 cobra stock Heaton, 16# pulley, cold air, et streets, magnaflow exhaust, and 150 shot nitrous. That car went 11.46@ 122. It did run low on nitrous in 3rd gear however. I know because I was behind the wheel. Previous best with the owner behind the wheel was 11.76 @ 121.xx. His best 60 was 1.69, and I pulled a 1.57 at our slick track that is no longer open. I can tell you 6000 ft da sucks. There was another 03 Cobra with ported Heaton and 16# pulley with 50 shot that managed a 11.6xx. The fastest 2 valve other that mine has a hellion twin turbo setup, auto, proper converter, and 9 lbs cooled boost, with methanol injection also. It managed a 12.74 @ 109.xx. I don't think people in the area know how to make Mods fast. They are definitely scared of rpm. I spun my stock 4.6 with vortech v2sq to 6600. With ported heads and little comp xe262ah cams it went to 7300 every shift. If I shifte lower it slowed down.
