Since the demise of my 302, I have read perhaps the biggest debate with great interest - 331 vs 347 and both vs a 351.

I have run in the high 10's and wish to stay there. As for streetability, for some reason I have lucky enough to be able to cruise decently enough with full drag suspension, blower, no a/c, and a full race AOD. My cam is a Lunati which pretty much mirrors an X-cam. A CJM chip and a lot of fiddling around has netted a fairly steady idle and adequate street manners.

I have a fixed budget of about $4k. Best deal so far seems to be from Coast High for a 347 stroker built around a Sportsman block with an upgrade to dished low compression pistons. Yes, it is a nodular crank, I beam rods and forged pistons. Shifted at 6200+ rpm and no less than 11psi boost, my stock block lasted about 4 years with a total of 98,000 miles. I honestly believe the block is the weak link, and not necessarily the rotating assembly.

Here's the question - can a stroked, N/A 351 based motor still get me 10's without nitrous and somehow meet Maryland emissions? Would a change in EEC or a chip re-burn be necessary? I would be re-using my #36 injectors, camshaft and heads (Y 303 SVO alum with 1.6 blue rr's. Not the best heads, but the budget is tight. Who has an all inclusive conversion kit that includes pan, headers, accessory brackets and intake? Will I still be able to use my pricey Bassani cat x-pipe?

I don't want to beat the 302 vs 351 issue to death again. I just want to know the performance and emissions viability of the 351 stroker.

Many Thanks!!!

Mitch

N/A 10 second and still emission's legal? More than likely not. I would still put in a stroked 351. You can get a forged assembled shortblock from Keith Craft for @ $3000. Peepaw
