i run a transbrake in my bracket car, but i have no delay box or throttle stop is that allowed in B2? i know that the rules say no, but i thought the brackets usually adapted to take on the home tracks bracket rules. also, is it any ET permitted in B2 still or has that changed? thanks alot

I would like to see this change as well, as i have a trans brake on my street car, but no dlelay box. Guess i'm going to have to bite the bullett and run O/C

well, the normal no-box class at trails allows a transbrake, so i'm thinking it'll be allowed, but i'm not sure i know for fun ford rules they also say no brake in B2, but they put an * there and say that if the home tracks program allows transbrakes then it may be allowed. i was hoping someone from the NMRA would step in and say for sure, but i bet they are busy with heads up stuff.

They will not conform to the track rules. They have their rules and that's how they stay. I work at Rt. 66 and asked my boss about that. Rt. 66 allows trans brakes in the Pro (B-2) class, but NMRA would not change it. I had to run B-1 in Joliet and all I had was a trans brake.

Although, I know for a fact that there were at least 4 or 5 people using a trans brake in B-2 at Joliet.

What can we do to get NMRA to change this?

It's very unlikely that we're going to change it, because we want to keep the bracket classes consistent across all of our events, and maintain the spirit of the bracket divisions. Pro Ford is "anything goes," Street Ford is for cars on DOT tires with mufflers, and Super Ford is a footbrake class. Says so right in the rulebook, Page 128:

SUPER FORD (B2) -- (NO ELECTRONICS)
All-Ford bracket class designed for “door slammer” type vehicles only. “Open wheel” vehicles (dragsters, roadsters, etc.) are prohibited. 12.99 & slowere E.T. All types of electronics, or starting line aids, are prohibited, including electronics, two-steps, delay boxes, etc. Two-step boxes & trans-brake are prohibited – this class designed for “Foot Brake Only”.

i can understand keeping conformity and all that. it's good to keep it that way, i wasn't looking at B2 as a footbrake class, just because all the B2s that i've ever seen(in ohio at least) allow trans brakes, unless it has been at an event where there was a very large payout and it was advertised as a footbrake only.

thanks for the info, i'll see you in B1

With no offense to teh NMRA i think they know how to put togethor a great program. For next years rules they should consider making B2 a trans brake two step only class. You already have a foot brake class in street ford, and guys with only a brake can't really compete with a box car. Most guys who build a no box bracket car will do it with a brake and possibly a two step. In my opinion this would give a medium bracket class for guys to run. Take a poll and see what the opinions are. I believe you will have more people pulling for a brake in B2!. I also believe most tracks have B2 as a brake class. I'm sure this is not the first or even second time this has come up.

Thanks For listening. I'll bite the bullet and run OC
