View Full Version : Why are there no other intercooler options for a S-trim intercooler on a Fox?

I know spearco used to make an air to air setup as i've seen them, but very rarely. But have not seen any data on wether they're worth a ****. And of course you have the $1500 Vortech cooler. Is there just no good way? For the amount of Street driven Fox bodies running S-trims there are, i just dont understand why every power adder company isn't making these.

anyone have any ideas?

Why not just use the Procharger core?

boxy, but good:D
expensive, but they work.
elmo, do you actually run both? i've thought about it but was unsure how to control fuel delivery. thought adding fuel thru PMS program for boost, then typical NOS dry system which ups fuel pressure when activated. not sure it would be consistant enough. whadda think?

The Procharger one works MINT!! Vortech only offers aftercoolers, which are really only good to about 550rwhp. So......if you want an intercooler the procharger one fits right in, the tubing is very easy too.

I will be more than happy to make one if some one brings me a car.

On my Novi setup, I ran a custom A/A front mount. It was very efficient, with intake temperatures staying below 190 degrees throughout the run. Without the intercooler, temperatures reach 220+ out the back door. One of those usually costs about $1000 for a large front mount that would be efficient. You could also do a water to air setup for about the same that would mount in the front bumper. Thats what my current turbo application had last season. (its for sale, if you are interested email me erica@lugoperformance.com) Intake temps there are reduced to 130 area.

If you'd like more info, Dennis can help you get an apprpriate intercooler, whether custom or otherwise, that will be efficient. Give him a call at 407-422-4429

I just noticed that you have an S-Trim. An S-Trim wouldn't require anything so severe. You may actually be able to pick up a Front mount Isuzu Truck intercooler that would work or something of that nature. Give Dennis a call, he will have some suggestions.

Exactly...I ran 18-20 psi on my S-trim (2.65/8")on pump gas in 100+ degree weather...tune was a bit fat, but never had any problems. I'd run C12 if I was planning on getting on it...usually a 1:1 ratio of 12 to 93 octane.

I think its silly how procharger uses an intercooler, especially on the older p600b vs. S-trim argument. They pulley up to 22psi@ the discharge and lose about 7psi, and can't make as much power as the vortech at 16-17 psi at the intake.

Regardless of intercooler efficiency, if you can go without it you'll be better off...

I REFUSE to use an intercooler on a supercharged setup, look at the renegade guys going DEEP in the 9s/high8's and making near 1000rwhp without one.

Well, i have a intercooler now.. came with my turbo setup ;)

I did go 10.55 @ 128 with the s-trim at 15 psi before i took it off my daily driver :D
