did you see the guy get out??? he stood up in his seat and stepped out.... :eek: apparently someone left the infield access gate unlatched and he hit the opening head on.

I just saw the footage of that last night....he was incredibly lucky in that the car that hit the remains of his car, seconds after the initial hit, wasn't another two feet up the track. The driver was totally unprotected in the remains of his cage when the other car hit.....a more direct hit and he would have gotten his ticket punched.

Scary stuff.....they "fixed" that gate after Mikey Waltrip did the same thing about 15 years ago, but left it open, I suppose because it was practice and not a race. Bet they leave it closed from now on whenever cars are on the track.

Even if you don't watch/like NASCAR, or only watch one or two races a year, you owe it to yourself to watch this evening's race from Bristol. Best race of the year and great fun to watch.
