I have the boss 302 4 bolt main block but im worried it might not be strong enough for 1000hp plus

Whats the strongest blocks in order

boss 302, a4, r302 and dart

Is the boss 302 and a4 pretty much the same?

No the boss 302 is a little weaker than an A4. The R302 is the strongest and it replaced the A4.

What is the general peak hp on the blocks?

Depends on how much hp youre pushing. I think peak hp on an R302 is around 1500-1600hp. Dont get me wrong a boss 302 is pretty strong. Just not as strong as an R302.

I read something that said Dart claims their block is good for close to 2000hp.....

Yeah I also heard the Dart blocks were supposed to be pretty beefy too. A few hundred more than an R302 though :D

the dart blocks are the hottest thing out right now, but from what I've heard they're hard to get a hold of. thats what I'd get if I were building a 1000+ hp engine. just my 2cents

HERE'S THE FACTS

THE BOSS BLOCK DOESN'T REALLY COMPARE MUCH TO THE A4..HERE'S Y. ALTHOUGH THE BOSS BLOCK IS A 4 BOLT MAIN IT'S NOT AS BEEFY IN THE MAIN WEBBING AREA AS THE A4 NOR IS THE CAPS AS BIG. THE EARLY A4 BLOCK DIDN'T HAVE BILLET CAPS THE NEWER ONES DID. PLUS THE LATER A4 BLOCKS WERE FITTED FOR ROLLER CAMS. PLUS THE A4 BLOCKS HAVE BEEN USED IN 1300HP ENGINE COMBOS.

NOW AS FAR AS DECK SURFACE, BORE CAPACITY, MAIN WEBBING, OILING SYSTEM, PLUS THE R302 BLOCK USES 1/2 MAIN STUD, WERE THE BOSS AND A4 DOSEN'T. THE R302 HAS MUCH THICKER WALL STRENGTH, THEY REMOVE SOME OF THE COOLING AREA TO PROVIDE FOR MORE STRENGTH.. 1500PLUS HP..

THE DART BLOCK FEATURES AT LEAST .0125 OVER BORE SIZE. THEY IMPROVE THE OILING SYSTEM A LITTLE BETTER BUT THE R302 WASN'T BAD. THE DART BLOCK IS A R302 ON STERIODS. 2000HP RATING. PLUS IT ABOUT 50LBS HEAVIER THAN THE R302 AND 90LBS HEAVIER THAN AN A4.

SO IF YOU WANT TO MAKE 1000HP I WOULDN'T THE BOSS, BUT IF THAT IS ALL YOU HAVE USE IT.
AN A4 IS A BETTER CHOICE IF YOU CAN GET ONE.
NEXT WOULD BE R302..
AND THE DART BLOCK IS OVER KILL.

THE BD (I HAVE A CUSTOMER SELLING A REAL GOOD A4 BLOCK AND BUILDING A 351).

Gutridge is right. but remember, motors that are prone to detonation shouldnt use billet caps except for in very specific situations.
