Curious why the backlash on the use of C4 transmissions in P/S...

The bad-ass of Pure Street, Rich Groh proved the AOD automatic is much slower than a stick. Why not either give back the weight break for the AOD or let us try a C4 transmission????

Looking for more controversy... :D

First you say why penalize the hard working carb guys, now you want to penalize the hard working stick guys. MAYBE THE AOD GUYS ARE NOT TRYING HARD ENOUGH. Sorry Ed but if you are wanting to stir things up please go to the factory stock or real street forums. I thing pure street has came a long way due to us racers getting along and also due to little rule changes other than changing weights here and there.

So your comments mean that Rich didn't work hard to finish in the top ten, three years in a row, with a Championship mixed in there???

I think Rich worked hard to get there even with the handicap of the AOD. He also showed NMRA and everyone in P/S the stick is faster in his car. How much proof do you need?

Sorry Ed but if you are wanting to stir things up please go to the factory stock or real street forums.

wait... aren't you the guy who wanted a 200 pound penalty on carb cars?

I thing pure street has came a long way due to us racers getting along and also due to little rule changes other than changing weights here and there.
Rocky

And your point???? Only when you want to add a rules change is it OK to post?

I'm so happy I can rely on your vast Pure Street experience to guide me in the right direction.

Hey Ed, what do have against shifting gears? Does some part of you get a funny feeling when you grab that round knob on the shifter handle? I'm j/k! But feel free to bash away!:D

I don't know why he's against it, he did it back in R/S. If ya want to click-click, I think Rich still has an AOD he might sell

Ed, You were the 1 who started the threads about aods and the thread about the carb weight penalty , not me . If there is 1 thing I have learned from you is that your always right . I wish you the best of luck next year if you run in this class . I know with your experience that you will be at the top and Ron will have a hard time catching you .

Ed, I personally don't understand all the hubbub about lettin a C4 in either?!?!? a couple years back I talked a lil with Thom Bates about this, he said a C4 isn't a street tranny, I said up until 84 or 85 you couldn't buy an auto. mustang without a C4! also I didn't even want a weight break, so I wouldn't have people bitchin about it! hell I even asked Thom what was the difference between a Lentech AOD & a Dynamic mighty mite C4 would be(besides money) when either way the lentech no longer has an OD! he then said it's not a street tranny! so instead of buildin a P/S legal 310 I built a 410 & said screw it!!!

Hey Ed, you can run C-4s over in the Mean Street Class in the NMCA and at the same ETs......

Rocky...

We spoke at MG way back so you know my warped sense or humor.

You also know we push the limits of the rules all the time with any car we show up with. This one will be no different.

Why ask? Because if no one spoke up about some changes or different combos, the class would be boring. You also know that during the off-season we MUST keep the brain stem juiced up with crap like this. ;)

Teddy...

You saw the R/S Twin in action back in 2001. Would "you" call that shifting/driving? Even with the "enormous" help of Bob Hanlon (Hanlon Motorsports) it looked pretty bad going down the track until Darin Hendricks drove her.

I highly doubt March will be a reality unless something major happens here. We've got to start the whole engine/driveline game plan from scratch and can only do that once the 2007 rules are out. Plenty of parts, ideas, sponsor help and enthusiasm, but not a lot of time to build this.

El CID:

I agree with your logic of allowing the C4 in the class. You show me ONE face-tooth engagement manual transmission in a factory built car and I'll believe that "C4 isn't a street transmission" line of reason. Until then, that excuse holds no water. Maybe only 78-85 stangs should get the C4 since they came with them?

Why the C4 request?

So an old man can test the car, while the owner is working 24/7 to pay for the project.

Simple huh!

It doesn't matter to me if the c-4 was allowed even though I perfer banging gears, when someone started winning with a carb and a c-4 the NMRA would just add weight to that combo. But then again I wouldn't mind seeing the class become a stick class only like Real Street.

A buddy myself are discussing this. Would be nice just service the tranny every 2-3 races (which is cheap), keep a few converters with you...should be good to go.
