i have see some truley awful "permanent" #'s (duct tape, ect.) so as long as you can't confuse the #'s i think you'll be ok. back window, one sticker, sides one on each side (two stickers) on glass only i believe, which limits area severly one stangs. NMRA does a pretty good job of haveing cont. stickers ava. but not guarented. i believe it was $60 car and driver last year (should be listed on site here somewhere) pay outs were $600 w, $300 r/u. cont. was 60/30 last year. and on a final note, the only way you'll be winning texas is if i can't get out there:D
hope this info helps a little

What defines a "permanent number" depends on the general mood of the NMRA staff. I've seen letters made out of duct tape, masking tape, vinyl tape, Scotch tape (hard to see), electrical tape, cardboard, newspaper, Dial-In (that's for Larry), shoe polish, furniture polish, string, chili, etc. Sometimes they send you to the premiere purveyor of vinyl, Sticker Dude, for "real" permanent numbers, and sometimes you're allowed to escape the weekend with the extra $40 bucks in your pocket.

To be sure you don't have any trouble, completely cover your NHRA numbers with black electrical tape and display your NMRA numbers on top with white vinyl tape. You shouldn't have any problems doing that.

For contingency stickers, you may only place them on the back glass. You only need one per item. Most of the time they are available at the track, but to be safe you need to have them in hand before the race. Any other non-contingency sponsor advertising may appear anywhere on the body.

You must also display the "NMRA 2003 Series" stickers on your side glasses. Plus, you must have the "NMRA" windshield decal displayed.

If I remember correctly, the entry fee for OC last season was $75. I don't know if that has been raised.

As far as payouts go, don't worry about it. Adam and I will be sure to keep you down in the field cars.

Martin:

Here are the answers you waited so long for. Thanks for racing with us.

1 Can I put black electrical tape over my NHRA permanentnumbers and put white NMRA numbers on top of this tape so I can try out Open comp when you come to Ennis Texas. If so I will join and give you guys a run for the money

Yes.

2 Where can I get contingency decals? and they can be on the back window only and not the sides??? I do want to get paid when I win

They need to be on the back glass or the side glass. You can get most of the decals at the event, altough we can't promise them all to be in stock. It is your responsibility to have them, so you really need to try to get them prior to the race to be 100% sure. You will get paid, if you win, directly by the manufacturer. It usually takes around 90 days or so.

3 What does it cost to race Open comp?

Race entry is $85.00 at the gate, or you can save $10 by pre-entering - you can get the form online.

4 What are the pay outs in Open comp?

Payouts are listed in the NMRA Race Pages - you'll need to be a member to race, and you'll get Race pages subscription as part of your membership.

I am glad you guys are making your way down to my side of the planet and really want to try something else out instead of bracket racing.

Thanks - hope you have a good time and see you out there!
