battery box needed?

Hello everyone. I have a convertible mustang with no rear firewall. According to the Optima website, I do not need to have a battery box with thier dry cell batteries. Does anyone know if this is true? It was my understanding that without a firewall a box is always needed??? Thanks.

correct, battery must be separated by firewall from drivers compartment or enclosed in a vented box
