I just got a fresh short block .030 over speed pro hypers stock broached rods polished with arp bolts. What RPMs should I trust this to say thrue the traps? Thanks Rob

6000-6200 with a heavy piston and a stock rod. Much over that and it will not live long.

Really? That is pretty good considering I would go for the torque with reusing the stock stuff. Wow Mark, I guess you seen alot of the 429/460 stuff.
I would think the stock rods are so skinny that they will stretch apart in the upper rpms.
What is the limitations of the factory blocks? How many different factory castings are there?

There are several different Blocks. You should search the www.460ford.com forum to find out the differences. Look specifically for "block summit" and other block related searches. Usually a factory block will support 700-900 HP without too much effort. Other good factory blocks are the Thick pan railed D0VE blocks, SCJ block, and Boss 429 blocks.
