Anyone have the skinny on a 25.5 or how much it would cost to modify my 10-pt (8.50). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jason

there is alot to it. youll need a funny car cage, rocker bars, x door bars on both sides, a set of bars that runs either through the floor(like through floor subs) or under the floor. a front and rear crossmember to go between those. a driver seat support from the rocker bar to the above mentioned bar as well. if you wanna look here, the coupe is my car, i did the 25.5 cage myself with a kit from wolffe. the vert and black cobra are buddies of mine, and they are 25.5 cars done by andy mccoy. you can see some of the differences in them. the pics i have on the other 2 cars arent as in depth as mine, but you can get some good ideas. in my car, the onyl bars that arent part of 25.5 are the bars that run to the torque boxes, and one set of the rear bars isnt required(i.e. the x or the over seat bars will do). hope that helps, this info is hard to come by, i wound up buying sfi 25.5 even though i went with a kit.

Stick car did you build that rotisserie or buy it? If you build it I would be very curious in the demisions and sizes of it. Please let me know one way or ther other.

I just recieved a pm from the scariest thing I have ever seen. It was the same kind of rotessiere made from engine stands. Anyone ever almost drop and engine on an unstable engine stand? I can't imagine putting a car on two of them.

Here's a few pics of mine that I built from scratch, it wasn't that bad but it was time consuming. Went right through cert with no problems.

i will get measurements tomorrow on the rotisserie for you guys. it wasnt hard to make at all, and it seems to be pretty well balanced out.

as for the wolfe 25.5. it fit good. the fc cage was all tacked together.

I don't mean to hijack the post, but just how fast can I legally go with a 10pt cage? And are there any steps to improve my cage for faster ET's without going all the way to a 25.5 setup?

thanks,
Jared.

You'd have to get it inspected by a NHRA Tech. As you probably already know, there's so many different configurations, diameters, wall-thickness, etc to consider. My last 10-pt was certified to run 8.50 and slower. The cage in my new car had a 12-pt and mini-tubs and certified the same. I am now updating to the 25.5, which is 7.50 and slower. The next time you're at a NHRA affilliate track, as the tech to take a look at it and ask him what he thinks---Advice is free:)

Good Luck,
J-man
