We’ve all dated that girl with a thousand pairs of shoes in her closet – you wonder if she has controlling interest in Candies. Roush Performance is kind of in the same situation, with a couple of trailers-worth of cars competing in Modular Muscle and Open Comp. With such an intense presence in the NMRA, it only makes sense that they’d take the next step and sponsor Modular Muscle for 2007. “I greatly enjoyed my time spent with the NMRA while at Joliet this past year,” explained Jack Roush. “As Roush Performance expands their Competition Parts lineup for the drag racing market, the NMRA is an excellent avenue to help spread the word. I am pleased that we are taking the step of sponsoring the Modular Muscle class.” Susan and Dale McCleneghan (Roush’s daughter and son-in-law) will be making the move from Toyo Tires Open Comp to Roush Modular Muscle, joining Roush’s long-time friend and teammate Don Bowles for the 2007 season. Thanks to Modular Muscle’s handicap-start Open Comp format and simple rules structure, there’s no conflict of interest – the class rewards consistent performance and quick reaction times, making it a perfect fit.
