I have a friend who has a 98GT and is about to build a motor for it, he's getting all the good stuff. Cobra crank, forged pistons, forged rods etc...

My question is, what is a good compression ratio for nitrous? I always figured it's somewhat similar to a blower, you need lower CR, but I have heard different:confused:

If any experienced people with nitrous knows, please explain. Thanks.:D

BTW- he's wanting to run 2 stage, 100 plus 150, maybe something lower, he's not quite sure yet.

Your answer would depend on whether it is a street motor or race motor. If it's a race motor you better have at least 14-1 even to be competitive:D

street car, might see some strip time, but mostly street

if you use a good rotating assembly and most importantly, tune it right & don't mind buying 93 octane go with 11-1. That will keep up with most. But remember there will always be somebody faster someday. Speed cost lots of $$$$$$$.

N2O like's high compresion its not like a turbo or a blower that detinates beacause of a hot intake charge. that why big boost people use inter collers. n2o drops intake temp. the main thig with n2o is having a good fuel suply beacause n2o is a oxidizer and will lean a engine out with out enough fuel. I would say for a good street engine to run atleast 10 to 1 compresion and should have no problem with spraying. with n2o you will have to run good gas and retard some of the timing out of the engine. this will control detination on a n2o engine.
