On a NOS Pro Shot solenoid, the rubber on the plunger seems to be sticking to the outlet for the nitrous in the bottom of the solenoid. When the solenoid opens it pulls the rubber down and will not allow nitrous to flow. Replaced the plunger with a rebuild kit, 3 passes later it does the same thing. Is there some sort of lubricant that is supposed to go on those plungers or will a teflon plunger cure this problem? Thanks.

Just spend the money to buy brand new solenoids........:)

Brand new solenoids may not be the answer either. I replaced all 4 on my 2 stage NOS Cheater system after having problems with one of the n2o solenoids in Norwalk. Next race they did fine for about 3 passes...up until the hot afternoon temps in Bristol got my bottle pressure up to about 1200psi. I talked with Eddie from Compucar and he said that the company that builds the solenoids for NOS is using a coil that isn't as strong as the old ones and will not open sometimes with high bottle pressures. I put two of his n2o solenoids on and haven't had any problems since. I'm also cooling my bottle on hot days to keep the pressure down below 1100psi now.
One other thing...Compucar has a lifetime warranty on their solenoids as well as customer service at most all the NMRA and FFW races.
If you stick with the NOS solenoids, I'd suggest going to the teflon plungers to help.
Hope this helps- Randy

So I should spend $130 on a new solenoid instead of $25 on the teflon plunger? K. The NOS tech guy says that fuel is what caused the plunger to do that and to make sure the solenoid is above the plate and to turn it upside down if I have to. Sure would hate to get fuel in my new solenoids and have the same trouble! Think I'll try the teflon plunger first. Thanks for the help.

I don't know how you could get fuel in a n2o solenoid but I'm sure the NOS tech guy would. If you talk to him again tell him they need to use better coils...mine doesn't have fuel in them and they are right-side up and level with the plate.
I don't suppose he offered to fix then under warranty did he? K

That would be a big negative on the warranty. I have never heard of that either but I suppose if you do not open the bottle so you are only spraying fuel that could be a possibility. It happened twice in a row. The NOS guy did sell me the plungers for 5 bucks less than summit. We shall see.

WRT gas getting into the solenoids and swelling the gaskets......as many of you are aware, the overlap of the cam events causes both the intake and valve to be open simultaneously. This causes reversion in the intake manifold which in turn causes atomized fuel to migrate up the nozzles and into the solenoids. Granted, it's not like raw fuel is being dumped on the gaskets, but it's enough to make them swell up and cause problems.
I fought solenoid problems all year on my 1st fogger stage. My Pro Race system already had the teflon seals in it. One thing i found was that running high bottle pressures(over 1000 PSI) causes the bottom of the plunger to deform very rapidly. It will give you problems on the NOS side and cause the tune-up to be really rich, no matter what you do to the tune up. Placing some fine sand paper on a flat surface can be used to knock the high spot down to get you by in a pinch.
D1.....
Look up Greg at Moxie Racing or Steve Johnson. They'll sell you the individual parts you need for a whole lot less than anyone else. As far as the tech guys from NOS go......they are about as useful as the Pope's pecker.......

I can get you individual parts if you need them. Or complete solenoids. Heck, I'm even introducing my own lineup of solenoids. :)
