A friend and myself are building a factory stock car. The car is a 79 with no power options. Does the rule below mean we will have to add power steering to our car even though it was stock manual steering? Also what do you guys think about running an AOD trans and taking the 100 pound break? Thanks!
3.3 STEERING
STEERING: Power assisted aftermarket steering system in stock location mandatory. Power steering pump must be fully functional.

The 79 was also only available with a carb but you have to change that too!
The AOD is a boat anchor, unless they give 400 pound break, then try it out.

Make sure its a top on the line aod.
Even then it will still be a boat anchor.
It needs atleast a 200lb break.

Basically, yes you need power steering. And you better be ready to push that 3rd pedal unless a major weight break comes, which it won't.:)

Thanks for the replies, I thought about having to convert it to EFI after I made the post. You would think 79 to 85 could run a carb. Are most of you running T5 or Tremec?

I believe most are running the G-Force T-5. Good to see some new faces coming to F/S.

I guess it would be cool to see someone go fast with let's say a Performer intake and a stock carb. No upgraded holley carbs etc. But if you start lettin double pumpers in and all that stuff, you got to go to Pure Street.

I will be in Reynolds and BG this year. I am running the stock heads and an AOD but I have always been the one to take the road less traveled. All I ask is dont beat on me too bad.

Don't worry every pushrod will be trying the stock heads next year. AOD though, UGH.

My big question now is the camshaft rule. Is it still a "stock" camshaft or is it just as long as there is less than .480 lift, it is legal?

Rule book is pretty clear. .480 lift at the valve.
