View Full Version : Permanent Numbers--True Street

Hi Guys,

Since Trey and Scott Sparrow have charged me to decide how we will asign permanent numbers, I have come up with a system that I hope will make most of us happy for the 2008 season. Just like anything else in life, not everyone will be happy but I feel that this is the best compromise. As Trey had said, we need to utilize the 500 series of numbers for NMCA and NMRA.

I have thought long and hard to try and figure out who is most deserving of the number one spot. Should it be the quickest average, the most index wins, most events attended, ect.? Thinking back to the original idea of the True Street class, I realized that the ultimate goal for the racer is to have the quickest average ET. With this in mind, I would like to take the quickest average of each driver for each event for the 2007 season ONLY. To include ET's from past years just opens up a big can of worms...........we'd end up making Fouldenouer the number 1 guy and, as far as I know, he doesn't even race in any NMCA class anymore--defineately not True Street. Although I can fully appreciate the efforts of drivers who strive for the index classes, as the rules state, the King is the quickest average and I believe that the BIG DOG should have 501.

So, here it goes................... We will asign the first 10 numbers (501-510) to the top quickest ET averages of the 2007 True Street class averages. I will post these numbers with information from the NMCA events results board. I will hold the numbers open for 7 days starting today, ending on December 21. This alows all the drivers to acknolege their accomplishments. If, after that point, the driver either doesn't want/care about the number, it becomes available to the others. Feel free to start picking any numbers in the 511 and on up to 599--I will add those to the list on a daily basis.

Once the 501-510 numbers are asigned, then it becomes a first request, first assinged--this includes NMCA and NMRA True Steet. Some of us race in both orgs so this is the fairest way to handle this, IMO.

I would like to "hold" the top 10 (501-510) for all of the 2008 season. During the off season, we will assess the 2008 results and re-assign the numbers again for 2009 as some guys might not care abut their number or might not return for the upcoming season.

Having said all this, here are the top 10 taken from the NMCA and NMRA results. If I have missed anyone, please let me know. As mentioned earlier, you do not have to pick a number , you can still just show up at regisration and be assigned one as it has always been –this is totally voluntary. If your name is on this list, please confirm that you want that number by Dec.21 or it will be asigned to the next in the list.

Ok, I need everyone to stop with the numbers, only for a minute. I was just made aware of this forum and I need to get the process in line a little better than it is currently going. I don’t mind True Street having their own perminant numbers, but we need to orginize this in a way that is not going to use other numbers from other Heads up Classes for sake of clarity. I would like to use the 500-599 series grouping of numbers for True Street in both NMRA and NMCA. You all know that when you go to registration you are issued numbers in numerical order starting with 1. If you claim #1 as you True Street number you had better be the first one to go through the line at registragion. Registration will not keep up with the perminant numbers list. Lets come togther on a range of numbers that will give True Street a designated grouping of numbers and not create any confusion in the registration process. Again, the 500-599 series of numbers is a good range to start in. It is a group of numbers that is not used by any other Heads Up group. It can be used by NMRA and NMCA as a designator. Perminant numbers are not and will not be required to participate in True Street.

NMRA/NMCA changed the system....we need to use the 500 series of numbers. Do you want to change to 543 or pick something different??

Nice job Steve. Keep up the good work. I'l wait til '09 to reserve my number.

BTW, not trying to get bashed here or anything. Did you run this by the guys over at FFW to see if they'd allow us to use these numbers at those events too. I know a few of us hit a few races over there too.

I thought of that also....thinking of you and I mainly. I wanted towait until we had things finalized with NMRA and NMCA before I approached FFW. It would be nice to include them in our system. I'll probably forward the thread to George Klass and see if he feels that it might fit inot their show.

Not really thinking of including them, but more like asking if they'll accept the permenant numbers instead their run card number with shoe polish.

There are some many 14/15 second cars over there that would want permanent numbers "just because"

Hi Eric,

I think that people need to chime into the forums to get the numbers......AFAIK, they won't be able to show up to the trailer and say "I want this number". Don't hold me to it though.

Wishing everyone, here AND serving overseas, a VERY Merry Christmas.

That is the plan. I will discuss it with the directors but, it should be the same as any other heads up class that has permanent numbers.

Is this the same world famous George Klass from FFW fame :) ?? Just wondering if you would like me to make it known to the Ford guys at NMCA that they can use their numbers with you folks also. I'm the moderator over there and kinda started the ball rolling with the permanent numbers.

FFW has been using participant's permanent numbers for every class, for as long as I can remember. It doesn't matter to FFW what organization issued the permanent number. The only time there is a problem is if there are duplicate numbers for the points classes, in which case we add a "1" after the 2nd racer's permanent number. The only other thing is that the numerals 1 through 10 are reserved for the points winners from the previous year.

I assume that since True Street doesn't have a points system that this would not apply to us then (??).
