Why did it get removed from the list of fuels that can be used?

Why did it get removed from the list of fuels that can be used? This is from 2008 FS online rules...

1.6 GASOLINE
GASOLINE: Gasoline as outlined here is the only acceptable fuel for use in this eliminator. The NMRA Racing Association reserves the right to check gasoline at any time during competition. Gasoline, as defined by the NHRA rulebook, is a mixture of hydrocarbons only. The average dielectric constant (D.C.) for the hydrocarbons that compromises gasoline is 2.025. This is defined as a reading of “0” on the fuel-check meter.
1.6a) SPEC FUEL: NMRA requires the use of one of the allowable NMRA spec fuels in this class. Mixing of fuels prohibited. Failure to pass fuel check is grounds for disallowance of the run during qualifying and disqualification from the event during eliminations. Fuel must pass color, fuel meter, specific gravity, chemical testing, and/or any other check as required by NMRA Technical Department.
1.6b) SPEC FUEL ACCEPTED LIST:

Manufacturer
Fuel Type
Color

Torco Racing Fuels
Mach 100 Unleaded
Red

VP Racing Fuels
C-10
Colorless

Looks like it's still legal.

in the 08 rulebook that we picked up in Florida it was NOT listed as a legal fuel for F/S, P/S, or R/S. but if anyone is looking for some, Shawn Johnson now has about 70 gallons for sale:eek:

Nope, it's not legal. I was helping out at the race in Bradenton, and tons of people where looking for VP fuels b/c I think they said Tuesday officials decided to take TORCO off the list of legal fuels to run. Sucks for those that left on a Monday to drive all the way down to South Florida and had no clue about the change.

We (Shawn & Ian) were told that the change was posted. We did not find that post as of Friday night.

Did anyone find the post? If so, please post the link.

Thanks

I was looking over on the h/s rules for the list and it wasn't there either. I had heard from someone in Bradenton that it was not legal. However on the h/s forum there was a big fuel discussion. It sounded like everything was going to stay the same for this year. Now i have a 55 gal drum i can stick you know where. For some to have driven all the way to Florida and spend hundreds of dollars in fuel just to get there to begin with then have to lay out unexpected money to buy new fuel as well as run with something you had not dynoed with is B/S. We all heard the deal with Torco pulling all their Pro sponsorships so i figured they would not post but this seems like a good way to get them back on board for next year?

I just did a search, and NOTHING about TORCO not being legal. Just they are not listed on the contingency list...I look all the way back to the middle of Feb...If they didn't allow anybody to run Torco after that person has spent a crap load of money to buy it, THAT IS BS!!! It is no where posted on this site it is no longer legal...SOMEBODY PROVE ME WRONG!!!!!

Thanks for looking. We didn't find anything either. It was a total BS situation and somebody needs to do some explaining. Tuned the car on Torco and have about $400 worth in the garage. Had to pump the system and buy about $150 worth of VP at the track and "hope" the tune was safe. These guys need to realize we are not professionaly teams with endless budgets. Torco has been a spec fuel since they started checking fuel and was listed as such in the online rules. The least they could have done is ask the competitors what fuel they planned to run during tech. Instead our first qualifying shot was dqed. Only time I've ever seen Shawn that pissed was after his window got shattered this weekend. He is usually a pretty mellow guy. Needless to say I'm hoping Georgia goes a little smoother.

The fuel is was still listed online in the Pure Street rules as a legal fuel as of yesterday but now its gone. Good job on the ninja edit **** NMRA.

I didnt know they were failing people for fuel in Bradenton. At that time it was still posted online in the rules as legal.

What a bum rap.
Would it have been so hard to give a 1 or 2 race waiver?

You know there is always "that one" that asks the stupid question, so here goes mine for the day. If I show up in Reynolds and I am not running VP fuel and only VP fuel I will be DQ'd right? Because I can get Sunoco race fuel easier where I get fuel than VP, it is 110 octane and that is what is legal in FS right. The contingency thing is not that big a deal to me, cause I don't think I will be a big player in the race, but sun shines on a dogs butt every now and then. My biggest question is why is fuel the only thing that has to be on the contingency list and not every other part on our cars. I dont want to start off on the wrong foot with anybody just wondering.:D

If you show up with anything besides VP C-10 you will get DQ'd. That is the only legal fuel. There is other parts that we use that are on the contigency, T-5 trans, Edelbrock Throttlebody, Spec Clutch...Those things are not mandatory like VP C-10 fuel is...

Ian Mullane

Correct. VP C-10 only and BTW, it's 100 octane.

wrong class hotshot.

we have a sealed 4V pure street motor for no apparent reason other than the fact we went .04 sec quicker than last year in about 2500 ft better air, with 100 extra pounds. We were just torn down at BG and found legal before we went the 10.19. so what does that mean? we found like 3 horsepower and the car is more stable due to the extra weight when coming off the line? doesn't make much sense to me is all, feel free to tell me your thoughts on that one...

I'll be bringing some extra fuel with me so if you need any let me know how much to bring. It will more than likely be in 5 gal cans so let me know what you need.
