Guys,

Just curious. I was "banned" from a particular website for a few days because I bumped my for sale post to the top. BTW, no warning, either.

Anyone ever had this happen? It was not one of the Ford sites. The administrator told me to read the rules.

I feel so ashamed, and dirty.

Anyway..............

wow... there's only one board I've ever been on that is THAT strict, and it's wasn't a car board. Most forums have a one-bump-per-day rule.

Greg,

I really didn't know the thing about no bumping, etc. Live and learn.

Damn Larry. You sure you want to go posting on such communist boards again????

What happens after the second offense? You get sent to Siberia for "re-education"?

yeah, a lot of boards don't like it. it take up band width for what they perceive as no benefit of the site.

Ken,

I don't want to create a mystery here.

It was Classracer. Mostly NHRA/IHRA guys use the site. It's a good site.

I had a couple of Motive Gear sets for sale and I guess I must have gotten "overbumpy":p

I know of another one us Ford people who was lectured by the guy lately about a different matter on their board.

I've scolded users for it on here, but mostly when I see that there are 20 bumps of a classified post that's been sitting on the board for six months.

It's because you are such a trouble maker Larry. Can you really blame them for keeping such riff raff off the forums? :p

Perhaps they prefer people to make up an entire new post in order to sell the very same item after it drops back several pages?
Clutter up the classifieds section with multiple posts of the same item.

The problem is that "bumped" old posts push down fresh posts, so either way, the top of the list is always clogged with old stuff that's not selling, for whatever reason.

Of course, it's in the individual seller's best interest to constantly bump their own posts to keep them at the very top, but you can see how that hurts everybody else, including potential buyers who are browsing the classified section. Worse, it can lead to a bump war where you have several people constantly pumping their own threads to keep them on the first page.

The only fair way to handle it is to have some sort of policy against bumping/reposting, so that everybody's got an equal shot at visitors' eyeballs. That, and putting meaningful words in your "for sale" post so that potential buyers can use than handy search feature to look for what they're interested in.

Bump....getting "Banned" isn't that big of a deal to me...in the last Month or so I've managed to get Banned from a Midget Nazi Ford Dictaters site and a local Stang site....best thing about it is I don't read the same old thing over/over/over on those sites anymore!

On the YellowBullet....from Lurking there for a long time til actually joining it lately....YB is da real deal!! ;)
