That's very, very cool. I love warbirds, too. I remember reading an article in Air & Space Smithsonian some years ago about the two shops who do the majority of the engines for Reno competitors. One of the builders was saying that they tried all the typical hot rod tricks to try to get more performance out of the engines - porting, valve jobs, camshafts, you name it, and nothing worked better than just leaving all that alone and making as much boost as possible. Apparently everyone runs water/methanol injection for detonation control, and if the system fails, there's literally nothing a pilot can do quickly enough to keep the engine from being a write-off.

The Red Bull Air Race is awesome! I watch it on some HD channel, Rush or something like that. I heard they wanted to cancel the series because of the high rate of accidents.

Cool pictures Paul. I too "feel" that I am a well rounded individual. lol I work for Boeing as a means to pay for racing...But I like anything that is fast, especially jets. I am a big fan of the WWI and WWII planes as well. My Uncle was a waist gunner on B-24 Liberator's during WWII. i guess that is what got me interested in the first place. I also spent some time in the USMC working on planes...(C-130 & MV-22 Osprey) Oh well anyway great pictures.

Hey Bob is that place where you can rent a plane and dog fight? I saw a place like that before, but I don't have any info on it. Pretty cool stuff.
