I would really like to thank the whole NMRA staff especially Steve and Charlie! Ive only attended 2 NMRA events in the past 7 years. One was the innagural event at Milan Michigan where i just visited. The most recent was ATCO New Jersey where we had 5 members of our team participate in Racing. Both of those events were a very plesant experience for me. The NMRA is an extremely professionally run organization. After those two events i kept in contact with both Steve and Charlie. On one of my many trips out to California this past year, I got together with the NMRA crew for lunch. We started to discuss about how to get JDM Engineering involved in the NMRA. I brought up the Super Stang class idea as a way for us to participate. We wanted to get involved not only with our buisness and customers but to start a class that would involve other shops and their customers with S197 mustangs as well. One of the things i have learned through out the years of participating in these events, it gives you a great opportunity to showcase your vehicles, your company products, tuning capabilities, and most importantly customer relations. We have learned this from participating in the Fun Ford Weekend series for the past seven years. At every event we would have up to 20-30 customers with their vehicles either racing or showing, sharing technical information, buying products, having products installed, hanging out at the track, or just going out to dinner.
As you all know by now most of Team JDM's current race cars are sponsored by Saleen. This is a win win situation for the both of Saleen and Team JDM as it allows us to show case our abilitys along with Saleens aftermarket parts. This has helped to increase sales and customer relations for both companys. I would like to thank Carlos Duran from Saleen who allowed this to work when we started this program back in the beginning of 2006. Carlos is a true enthusiast and will be attending most all the events this year, Saleen will have at least one representative at every event and a strong presence at the Milan Michigan event especially! We will be racing a Special edition Saleen S302 Extreme 25th anniversary Sterling car this year, BTW its a $100,000 Street car!!! I would like to thank the New CEO of Saleen Paul Wilbur, the new head of Saleen Speedlab Mike Lingo, and Special Vehicles manager Todd Helms for donating this car to our race team. This car will showcase the Saleen S302 crate Engine and many of their newest parts for the 2005-2008 mustang market.
Vehicles JDM will be bringing to Milan Michigan:
2006 Yellow Naturally Aspirated Saleen Speedlab vehicle bumper # 03
2008 25th anniversary Sterling Edition Saleen Speedlab vehicle bumper # 05
2007 Beryllium S281 Extreme Saleen speedlab vehicle bumper # 09
2007 White S331 Saleen F-150 speedlab vehicle bumper #04
2008 Roush 428R 2.3TVS Supercharged (1st one ever!)
2008 Ford Racing Shelby GT500 4R100 Automatic! with all Ford Racing aftermarket parts!!
We know quiet a few of our customers are going to be in attendance too.
We would like other shops to bring vehicles and participate as well as encourage their customers to bring their cars and participate! I have already seen a great response in the emails we have sent out from some shops as well.
There has not been a mustang like the S197 body since the introduction of the 1964 1/2 mustang. This is truley an attractive vehicle and has a large enthusiat following, people are spending their hard earned money on them even in todays economy. They are just spending their money a little more wisley and chosing who they are gonig to spend it with. So this class will be a great opportunity for any shop or company to display and participate with a vehicle, showing off their talents and products! This type of buisness has worked great for me for years and should work just as well for others!
I know Racing brings out the competitiveness in everybody and thats good from the starting line to the finish line. In the pits and life after the 1320' we are all part of the same blue oval family.
I've rambled on enough here...I just really want to give a big TWO Thumbs up to the entire NMRA organization. I'll see everyone at Milan in a few weeks!
