Nick, a roll cage/bar is only required for cars that run 11.49 or faster. Ofcourse it helps to have a bar or even a cage to stiffen the chassis, but if its your daily driver, drive it there, race it and go home. How competetive do you think it is going to be against all out "Factory Stock" cars?

For the record, I only have an 8point bar in my pure street car.

Didnt realize you had an 8-point. I think ill go with the 8 point. Right now witht the way the economy is and how much stuff costs, Factory stock might be my way for a year. still got the Pure Street shortblock, heads, and stuff. just got to bolt it together.

Now being competitive is another story! These guys are freakin flyin for what little they have to work with. Thanks for the reply

We just have a 6 point w/ Kickers to the subframes in my new car and our blue car from last season. An 8point will take you to 9.99's or 135mph.

Whats the difference in a pure street short block and a factory stock shortblock?

Good luck either way. It sucks that the cost of going racing has overtaken the cost of racing.

I dont believe anything is different by looking at the rules. If im not mistaken F/S, P/S, and R/S all use the same 310 displacement. difference is Im a Carb guy, and no carbs are in F/S. So with that main factor, my car already has a 2V with the right heads, intake, long tubes, exhaust, etc. Just need to take the motor out, bore the block, order some cams, pistons, and do something with the crank. Then "Race" it up a little. Only problem ive found is i didnt listen to all the advice and didnt plan all that well. I got a considerable amount of money on a loan and it still came up about 7,500 short. The Pure Street motor required some extra dough for some stuff and the little stuff that you need before you can go any farther with the setup. Only problem is the little stuff cost BIG MONEY!

But i appreciate the help with the cage questions guys. That will make it a little easier with not having to remove a ton of stuff for the cage.

Depends on if you talk to a pushrod race or a modular racer.....:p
