you should never see a problem going with the magnums. the stainless steel rockers in my 302 are now six years old, over 600 passes on them plus some street mileage, and putting out ~820 hp.. without skipping a beat. although they will be getting refreshed this winter, needless to say you can beat on em:D

+1 for comp stainless. I ran them for 7 years without a hiccup.

COMP has an Ultra Gold rocker out. 259.95 3/8 or 7/16th stud, 1.6 only. Very good rocker but they have only been out for about a year. The most severe application they've been run in (that I'm aware of) is an 8K RPM motor with 600 #'s of spring with no problems.

Actually, if you check the comp cam site they do show a 1.7 ratio mode.

I had those and three of them broke the first pass. I replaced them with Crane gold and no problems so far after 5 passes.

Did you contact them about the failures and if so, how did they respond? Are you sure there were no other factors such as geometry, coil bind, etc? If an aluminum component design is borderline, I can see it having a fatique problem after a limited amount of cycles since aluminum has no fatique limit. I'm not defending comp's rockers, it's just hard to believe that a design could be so inadequate as to fail so fast.

I did not contact them. I told my parts supplier what happened and he told me just bring the whole set back and he swaped them out for the crane gold at no charge to me. He might have contacted them but I didnt.

Yeah that was not a very clear statement. They are available in 1.7 but not at that price. 338.41 for the 1.7's

What failed on the rocker? Were they the 1.6 or the 1.7's? I assume you made no other changes besides the rockers. This is strange, I've yet to see a set fail nor have I heard anything from COMP about problems. There is always the chance of a manufacturing defect no matter what you buy but I can understand why you would have a bad taste after that experiance.

The fulcrum (spelling) I believe its called. The part that the stud goes through. My parts guy said he sold me his first set. I dont have a bad taste I just figured it was a defect but my parts guy didnt want to a chance and gave me the crane gold.

How much spring pressure you guy's running with the pro magnums.
