I thought Super Stang qualifying was going to be changed. The way it is Friday and Saturday means nothing with regards to ladder or qualifying and points.

Plus it really rips the point system in the event of first round loser since no points are awarded for Friday or Sat qualifying runs.

SST Qualifying really needs to be changed to similar Open Comp, Truck & L or NMCA Late Model/EFI whereby points for qualifying on Fri and Sat are a reality.

I guess we can play either way but I don't understand the reasoning as is.

How many Super Stang racers agree or disagree ?

Bobby,
That's pretty much what I suggested to, not only to the rules folks, but to Jim III as well. Contacted him so he could talk it over with Jim since it is his class. My reasoning was that it should be laddered based on R/T in qualifying. That way we could award first round points to anyone that showed up. That way, in case someone got off to a bad start in the first 3 races or so they wouldn't be so far behind that it would be impossible to come back and be in the top spots by the end of the season.

Plus, laddering cars in the second round based on "closest to dial in the first round" is just weird. It almost penalizes someone for having a good r/t in the first round and ends up "pedaling" the car at the finish line.

Oh well........not my call I suppose.

The way it is now it looks like you can just show up for eliminations (usually Sunday) and run. That may be some of the reasoning for the way qualifying is set-up. May help with car count. Just a theory.

But the racers that show up on Sunday are more than likely one or two event people and points are not a player for them.

I do agree that if you are there for all "qualifying" runs it should be worth something.

"It almost penalizes someone for having a good r/t in the first round and ends up "pedaling" the car at the finish line."

This does add in a new factor for driving the finish line if you want to qualify well. May be by design.

IF YOU WANT TO SUBMIT A RULES CHANGE PROPOSAL OR CLARIFICATION.
We have created a procedure for proposing official NMRA rules clarifications to the NMRA rules committee. If you would like to submit a rules change or clarification for consideration, this is the ONLY way to initiate the process.

Write a detailed letter to NMRA explaining the specific changes you are suggesting to the printed rulebook. Please refer to class, rulebook section (#1-#13) and specific subheading. Detail the "wording" changes that you are proposing. In the second paragraph, please explain the "reasoning" behind the change, and detail how you believe it will affect the best interests of the class as a whole. Please include YOUR name, car number, and contact information including address, telephone, and e-mail.

Send this e-mail to: NMRARules@promediapub.com All E-mails will be sent to all NMRA rules committee members.
Within two weeks, follow up with any member of the rules committee to get the result of the rules change proposal for consideration to the committee. If you have specific questions from this point forward they should be addressed via e-mail address is NMRARules@promediapub.com.
The NMRA Tech Committee will review the rules change proposal, and NMRA will formally respond in writing to the racer. All NMRA formal rules proposals sent in the NMRARules@promediapub.com will get a response.
Thanks for working with us! We appreciate any and all valid input and would be thankful for all constructive help in improving the classes.
