I am putting together a new 347 and using a new set of heads. there are about 2 or 3 of the rockers that are not exactly centered on the valves and I have had people tell me its not a real big deal as long as it is not hanging over the valve tip ( which there not ). is this true? also what can be done to fix this, if there is a way? the only idea I have is backing the studs out ( oh yea there stub mounts ) and using a die grinder to oblong the holes in order to do a slight adjustment. just wanted some more opinions on the situation, any help would be great.

Should be fine.Buddy of mine did what you want to do and caused himself a bunch of headache. He was changing valve springs last weekend and found several of the pushods had a pretty good wear pattern in them that was well below the guide plate. The pushrods were rubbing on the pushrod holes for the heads.Plus he found several rockers that had wear on them on the bottom sides of the trunion area that should not be there. He is running TW heads.

you can loosen the rocker studs and the guide plates can be "clocked" or "twisted" to get better alignment..

you can also get isky adj guide plates or the old school way of cutting them adj the alignment and tack welding them back together.
I think harland sharp also sells slight offset rocker in singles if it bothers you that much .
But make no mistake if valve train geometry isnt as close as it canbe then your asking for trouble espeacialy if you acually plan on making the best of your particular combo.
